Income:
£?! No clue, working on budget of £1000 for now.
Outgoings:
Mortgage £253
Overpayment £20
Council Tax £123
Internet/phone/TV £45
Home insurance £20
TV Licence £13
Electricity/gas £70
Vodafone £11 (Mr Mooo)
Orange £38(Me)
Cinema card £16
Zoo membership £5
Total £614 (£153.50 per week based on a four week month)
Other outgoings:
Food £160 Working out roughly £40 per week as will be paid weekly.
Car fund £100/£25 per week
Christmas/birthday fund £40/£10 per week
Total: £914
This doesn't seem quite right at the moment for reasons I can't put my finger onThe power cost is higher, although I've now fixed my tariff so there shouldn't be further surprises. My mobile cost has gone up by £5 a month as I got a new phone yesterday
No up-front costs though and the cashback will cover me leaving my contract a little earlier.
With total costs of £914 I will need to:- Put £153.50 weekly in to my direct debits account
- Put £40 per week in to my food account, rolling over any underspend each week for the "stocking up" week.s
- Put £10 a week in to my birthday account
- Put £25 a week in to my car account.
Anything leftover will be for me to spend on myself or to save.
The other expense that isn't listed there is travel. I need to work out what the cheapest way to travel will be as it's not going to be buying tickets daily. I'm wary of committing to a monthly bus pass in case the job doesn't pan out. I'll think about that one next week I think.
Happy Tuesday to anyone who managed to read this far0 -

Hope today went well and your budget as a starting point looks good. Wish I was at a point where I could put money away for birthdays and cars etc... This will be next once I have paid back my loan and parents. Good luck with the new job and I am just about to subscribe.E.F. #38 240.55/1000 SPC8 #375

I started doing that (well, the birthdays bit, I didn't have a car then) when I was still a DFW. Otherwise birthdays/events turning up would have scuppered me every time.
Paying £100 to my car account each month helps me to pay for insurance and for the occasional repair/MOT without having to drain my "real" savings.0 -
Moomin not sure if you've seen this, but there's 200 free Nectar points up for grabs for registering with 1 of 4 First train companies, plus 4 points per £1 spent on tickets up to 27th April.
I've registered but not bought any tickets and the 200 points have credited today. Another nice freebieBack on the DFW Wagon:

I won't be buying train tickets for a while thanks to Tesco/RSH vouchers, but 200 free points would be lovely0 -
Lounge decorating sounds exciting - well, the end result rather than the doing when it's me :rotfl: Did you get to B&Q?
Nope, I was too exhausted! Maybe later this week
The plan is to get one of Mr Mooo's friends round to give us a quote as he's a decorator. He'll be able to help with advice on how to remove the fireplace too. I think it's better to do that before starting to get supplies so I'm going to see if he can pop round later in the week.
First day went well yesterday. People seem lovely, but the work isn't too excitingStill, that's going to stop me getting complacent and not looking for new work!

Post daily: 21/30
Decluttering: 87/100
Jobs applied for: 13
Exercise: 15/20
SFD: 12/15
Food: £103.99/£150
Petrol: £35.28/£100
Misc spends: £144.50/£160
Things aren't going too badly this month, although the miscellaneous spending pile is bigger than I would like. My decluttering is nearly on target, so I just have to get some more stuff in bags this week and then get it out of the house
My 200 Nectar points for linking to a rail site have been added, so I'm up to 5019/£25.09 - not bad considering I keep forgetting to do my Adpoints
I've got a £23 Amazon gift card on the way from TCB which will help with Mr Mooo's birthday gift if he ever decides what he wants :rotfl:0
