My cousin is called Nicholas, Nick for short.
When he was about 15, my aunt gave a home to a dog. The dog was already called Nick.
She kept the dog's name as Nick. She lavished more love and affection on dog Nick than she ever did son Nick.
I don't think it's a good idea to have a child and a pet with the same name. The kid would probably end up getting teased at school if it came out that they were called after a pet.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Only if the dog was called FidoBasically, the OP's dog (George) has a regular 'human' name.
And I don't think the way Nick (the dog) being treated better than the son called Nick, was ANYthing to do with the 2 names being the same... Sounds like much more deep-rooted issues than that..............0 -

Which part of 'However, who on earth would call a child or pet George? Is an awful name.' was funny?0 -

An ex's aunt had her first son adopted at birth. When she married some years later, she named their baby the name she would have given her first son, had she been able to keep him...
Ten years later, adopted son reached 18 and found her.
She now has two sons called Neil - the adoptive parents chose the same name.
Another ex's Mum had a cat with the same name as his sister. Everyone could tell which one she meant when she called them, though - the cat was called in a soft, adoring tone, with lots of '...come here, baby' and his sister was summonsed with a '...git 'ere NAW!'I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
