I have to say my initial reaction would be dont call them the same name...however when I'm trying to round up the family and no one is taking any notice I can see the benefit of everyone being called George...

Imagine just calling one name and they all come running!

GEORGE FOREMAN: I named all my sons George Edward Foreman. And I tell people, “If you’re going to get hit as many times as I’ve been hit by Mohammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Evander Holyfield - you’re not going to remember many names.

I would be tempted our dogs name is Molly as the first date me and OH went on was to see Flogging Molly we also got her on the date the Titanic sank (im a bit of a Titanorack) so she is also named after Molly Brown.

So I would be tempted because of the whole first date thing and both of us being big fans but thankfully Molly wont work with our surname as there would be to many L's in row

And to be honest...sometimes the husband answers when I call the son,the cat responds when I call the husband and probably the goldfish gets worried everytime I call any name!

So most of the time now if I want a whole house response I just call "family".

Call the boy George - lovely name, and get rid of the cat.

I am sure people have pets with my sons name - a name is a name if I liked it I would use it.

Giving them the longer versions means they have options though, seems better to me. I know a middle aged suzie who is just that, not a Suzanne or a Susan, and I do wonder if she'd prefer a more formal, less babyish option for some occasions.

My name's got a version like that. Sometimes people call me by this version thinking that it is my proper name, I think sometimes they probably do think the name I use must be a shortened childhood name. It drives me crackers! That isn't my name!

I'm starting to feel very grateful for my one syllable, can't be shortened or lengthened, easy name!
