  • Well I would definatley name a child after a pet, I have 2 children Tiger and Felix.

However, who on earth would call a child or pet George? Is an awful name.
Cant you think of anything better than that? even Rex or Rover is an improvement.
You can buy books with childrens names in you know.

Yeah if they royal baby was not called George might be better idea but thinking about it they will be loads of copycats that name it just because.

Maybe back to the name board

Well the OP obviously has. Why so rude? Do you not realise that that could genuinely upset someone, or do you not care?

I love the name George but agree that there might well be a fair number of Georges born in 2013

I wouldn't personally call my child the same as a pet but wouldn't think it too strange if i knew someone who did. Though, i think you would get a lot of 'oh, like prince george?' and probably several other georges in his class at school. However if that doesn't bother you then i would go for it :)

In five years time half the boys in the class will be called George and half the girls Georgina - if you want a 'common' name - go ahead!

The little girl I nannied for named our cat Rosie from the t.v show Rosie and Jim.
Fast forward ten years and I had a baby girl I was desperate to name her Rose after my nan but I just couldn't do it it felt wierd.
She has Rose as a middle name instead.

I wouldn't worry, most kids get used to their mum calling them by the dog's name - and vice versa.

Very true, mum still goes through all the pets names, live and deceased before she gets to me!

  • Hi,

I knew somebody who had a black labrador, he just called it 'black dog', don't think your kid would like that name though.
