Windows 8.1 a hero or a zero

Got to have a "go" on my neighbours Windows 8 pc last night.
All I can say is hahahahahaha what a joke of an operating system. Looks like its been designed by 3 year old.
My neighbour asked me if I could put XP on it as she hated it too. Anyway she has ordered W7 which I will kindly install when the disc arrives next week.0 -
I hated it too when I first got it and was sorely tempted to send it back. But I persisted and soon found out which short cuts I needed and where etc. Honestly I have some niggles now but no major issues.0

Holly sh.. sh.. shmoke!
The background for the login page on 8.1 is a bit fierce (like a painted rainbow, but very bright)!
Also, how do you run Notepad in Win 8?0 -

I've taken to adding my own toolbar of quick launch items. (I expect Microsoft will delete that capability in the next improved release though).0 -
I also noticed that after the 8.1 update I was left with a 4.69 GB C:\windows.old folder.0

Cynic .... But you could just keep them in a folder *which is all the toolbar does*Yup - the accessories don't exist as such.

Well, a toolbar is a folder that you can make into a menu off the taskbar.debitcardmayhem wrote: »Cynic .... But you could just keep them in a folder *which is all the toolbar does*
Cynical or not, M$ do seem to be removing the useful/nice features of Windows in the name of making things "modern" (it's a bit like when a government says it's going to modernise something - it's change for change sake that will cause a lot of people work and probably isn't going to improve anything). :-)
Yes, I have the joy of being able to delete it.debitcardmayhem wrote: »I didn't get a windows old folder , I feel cheated now0 -

You could try MKDIR Windows Old, then run this:
Echo Off
:Start
Type NUL > Win8.txt
Sleep 5
for /f "tokens=1-5 delims=:" %%d in ("%time%") do rename "Win8.txt" %%d-%%e.txt
goto Start1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
