Jem16, It's a new box, at least he took it out of the box infront of me but i didn't see if it was sealed!

    Coloured box or brown box?
Walcott, there is a beep then the screen goes black with 'SKY+ HD loading please wait.......' then the box switches itself off and the light goes amber.

That's the box rebooting which I can't see the TV doing.

I think jem was referring to the cardboard box,:D.
Have you tried turning VIERA link off?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    I was, yes.

I thought that was only available through scart but I might be wrong.

As the box has also had a problem with scart this morning, I'd be going with a box problem first.

Sometimes things don't work out of the box, this is why goods have to be returned
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Sorry!! I am being thick today!
I am pretty sure the box was white and no I haven't looked at the TV setting yet but have looked at the link on the previous post and think I might try that.

Maybe you'll be right zaax, it's just the fact that it didn't work before he changed the box and doesn't with a new one that it might have been something else.

I will try all of these ideas when I get home, thank you all so much for helping.

Hopefully the engineer will be able to call (again) tonight and I will have a lovely success story to report in the morning!

    Thanks again.:T

My TV is a Panasonic plasma - 4 years old.

I have no problem using HDMI with Sky.

I agree with Jem16 that the TV would not be able to make your STB reboot.

I initially thought something weird is probably going on between the TV and STB which is making it turn off but an actual reboot occurring is probably a software/hardware bug in the SKY+.
