I didn't try the HDMI lead again this morning, and when I think about it the SKY channels didn't work at first - it said something about a card error but I switched off and on at the wall and was fine (SCART)
Very puzzling!!0 -

Sounds more like a box issue than anything to do with leads.0 -

I wonder whether the new box is 'dodgy'.0

It told me I couldn't rely for 29 seconds so I assumed I had to re-post it!!! I'm learning!0

I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen a lot of duplicate posts recently even from regular posters. I think MSE has a glitch.I wonder whether the new box is 'dodgy'.
Sounds like it to me. Was it a brand new box or a refurb?0 -
I had a problem with a Sharp HD TV, in that case the HDMI connection would turn the TV's picture off.
The problem could be the CEC signal on pin 13, I got round the problem with the use of a thin strip of insulating tape over the offending pin, its a bit of a fiddle.
Or you may be able to turn off the function on your TV.
This could be a red herring in your case, maybe worth a try to extend the life of an old telly.

Hi Walcott, the TV is a Panasonic but not sure of model (I'm not currently at home (no internet yet!) and I think it's about 5 years old.
I don't think we had used the remote as we were engrossed in Emmerdale at the time!
I would have guessed it is a Panasonic and around that age!
I have never heard of this specific issue. Do you mean the Sky+ actually turns itself off or just that the TV stops showing the picture but the Sky+ is still on? If it is the latter then this is fairly common and could probably be fixed.
I doubt Sky will be able to help. I think this is probably an issue between your TV and Sky+ STB.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Jem16, It's a new box, at least he took it out of the box infront of me but i didn't see if it was sealed!
Penrhyn, thank you, I'll look at my TV settings.
Walcott, there is a beep then the screen goes black with 'SKY+ HD loading please wait.......' then the box switches itself off and the light goes amber.0
