Facing dismissal because of a mistake

Thank you
I had a bizzare phone call out of the blue today, a recruitment manager for a lovely company phoned me up asking me to interview for a position. She remembered me as I'd served her in my last company, however it wasn't my store, I was in there on my way home after work, collecting something for a customer from my store who couldn't get to the other shop, and the queue was big and she needed help, she was so surprised that I put my bag and coat behind the till and helped her and the queuing customers, that when this vacancy came up she remembered me and looked me up! She didn't know I was looking for a new job and wanted to poach me. I've an interview tomorrow!!0 -
OMG OMG OMG fingers crossed! I, too, have been impressed with your attitude and the fact you turned right round and started helping on other threads, after your dismissal.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Been reading this thread today. Monty, you did make a mistake, but that in NO way, shape, nor form makes you a bad, a dishonest or foolish person. It was horrible, what happened to you, coming so soon as it did after your accident. I echo those who say that this could be a bright new dawn for you; your former deputy sounds like quite a toxic individual to me, and at the very LEAST your work pattern alone would inevitably have led to health problems even without what ultimately happened. I suspect they will miss you in the long-run FAR more than you will miss them.
Please don't beat yourself up for what happened. You can't change it now and it's over. Leave it in the past and let the new, happier, Monty-doggy step forwards onto a better path.
I wish you all the very, very best for your future. xx0 -
monty I lost my job last year and was gobsmacked (no idea it was coming, had only been there just under a year so was let go with a weeks notice for no reason!) but after crying and wallowing for a weekend I got myself together and applied for a lot of jobs, called a lot of agents and also anyone else I ever knew to find a job. Explaining why I was unemployed was a bit awkward as I didn't really know the reason myself!
I count myself very lucky that I got a new job in 10 days and started 2 weeks after losing my job. Its half the salary I used to be on, but with some financial juggling and tightening of belts its a survivable wage and more importantly its a job I love with colleagues that are great!
I hope you had a great interview today and fingers crossed for you!0 -
It went well, I've a second interview Monday!
This has been the biggest learning curve I've ever had, and I'll never ever forget it, I'm excited for the future!0 -

How did the second interview go?0 -
The interview went well. But unfortunately I didn't get the job. It was between me and one other, and the feedback was I am what they are looking for, but the other candidate had more confidence and with it being a new store there will be directors and chairmen all over the place and they thought she'd be more suitable, however would I be interested in other positions with them, to which I said yes and I'm on the list for the next vacancy.
I prob did come across as a little nervous as it all moved so quickly and I was feeling like I had to get this job or my world would fall apart...not the case!
I'm still doing my temp job, it pays 66% less than my old job but it's better than nothing. I've just done a 12 hour shift until 2am!
My plans have changed slightly, I don't want to come across as desperate or nervous for a job, although I've been knocked for six by all this!
I'm going to do the temp job up until Xmas, and have some time with my family. Then in jan I'm going to find a similar but smaller role and go to college at night and study so I can move carrer slightly. I've no qualifications other than gcse and I want a complete fresh start.
We've looked into our finances and we can afford a drop in my salary so I can do this.
I'm scared but also excited as this is the start of something new0
