  • Nothing stopping you buying a push bike ?

I don't want to be too judgemental, because mistakes happen, but I honestly think, that it would be good if people knew the hassle they were creating by taking the risks you took.

    Im not actually :D

The 2cv comment might have been a bit tongue in cheek for the OP but my nan bought me a 2cv when I was 14 to learn to drive in when I got a bit older. Unfortunately it rusted a lot and we scrapped it eventually. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, as they are now worth a fortune in good nick.

I would have one tomorrow if I could pick one up for reasonable money

    So would I.

My parents had 2, the first before I was born from nearly new, the second they bought about 15 years ago for £350 I believe. Needed chassis doing almost immediately but back then they were very cheap. I desperately wanted one as my first car but just couldn't afford to buy one, a similar one would be worth at least £1500 now.

Not sure its such a great car to learn to drive in...they say you learn to drive a car THEN learn to drive a 2CV! :D

And me - a 2CV6 Club and a Dyane 6. I think they are brilliant cars, for those of us for whom 'rudimentary' is a positive, not a negative. I could write a lengthy list of the desirable features, but I will content myself with two observations:

    1. I drove one for several winters in East Yorkshire, and I never once failed to get to work. Sometimes, I was the only one there.

    2. It's the only car I have had a crash in, and my ex-wife and I walked away from it. The other car was written off. Some new bits at the front and a new floor pan, and she was good as new in a week.

If I had a bit of spare cash, I would have another one tomorrow - the Bamboo model in green and white, I think.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
  • When I use the compare sites I usually put my number down starting with my correct 5 digit 01 area code followed by 6 zeros.

Also I agree if you're buying a uber cheap runaround with a huge excess, then it doesn't really matter which insurance company you use as long as it's the cheapest.

Ah that brings back memories of me sitting in the passenger seat in my school uniform freezing of a morning (the heating never worked), my mother flooding the engine trying and failing to start it, then going to get my father to start it with the crank handle thing!

Reliability wasn't its strong point though as I recall! Home start was called out at least once on a winter morning, and I also remember it just breaking down for no particular reason a few times (usually started again 5 mins later though).

Its the only car I've ever had a vaguely serious crash in too. I remember it vividly. Well, it got sandwiched into a brand new Rover 200 in stop start traffic by the clown behind not looking. We had a corsa courtesy car for months which we thought was luxury whilst they fixed up the 2CV!

Maybe we should continue this in a 'The 2CV is wonderful because...' thread. :D

Yeah, maybe. I am feeling guilty already. Sorry, OP
