This might help you establish how much the insurance is going to cost.

yep, but they also ask about endorsements and the drunk one will stay on your licence for 11 years
it may stay on license for 11 years but if a company asks you if you have had any endorsments or convictions in the last 5 years you do not have declare it after 5 years has passed is what the poster is getting at.0 -

A friend of mine has been banned 4 times (not condoning it) and he is running around in a 5 series which is only costing him around £500 to insure.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I would stay away from typical young lads cars like corsa's, saxo's etc. They are expensive to insure anyway.
Try something a bit unusual. A classic or something. Maybe something like a mondeo, nissan micra etc.
Maybe even try things like a Citroen 2cv! (A second class car ride is better than a first class walk!)0 -

He has no claims bonus0 -
Given how long ago it was this may no longer be relevent, however - when I was 21 (about 16 years ago) I was convicted for drink driving, no insurance, no MOT, not displaying a tax disc and received a 12 month ban (reduced to 9 months by attending a course).
Before my ban I was paying about £600 to insure a VW beetle fully comp, after my ban I was able to insure an old VW Polo TPFT for about £400 (with 5 years NCD as I let my insurance run whilst I was banned). It took a LOT of phoning round to get a decent quote but eventually i found something affordable.0 -
Yes, full no claims. The point I was trying to make was that even though he has been banned more than once his premiums are still roughly the same as if he hadn't. Maybe he just touched lucky with the insurer he chose.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
