Morning all
Have loads of washing to do today, so naturally its pouring with rain.
The whole house needs a clean & tidy today. I usually do a weekend blitz as I find it hard to keep up in the week. I only work 20 hours but somehow I am still very unorganised.
Had some bad news last night. My gran is dying
DH has taken the kids swimming.
Lunch today shall be sarnies & dinner shall be spag bol for dh & kids & I shall have a baked spud with cheese & beans.
Oh well, had better dry my hair & get started with the chores! Its quite late already!!!!

what do the rice bags do queenieplease tell us how you made them and do you have a picture ? ..
My lads have used them for years now, sometimes as a bed warmer (instead of a hot water bottle), sometimes simply as a comforter, or if they've had growing pains/sports injuries. When my middle son's girlfriend was pregnant, I made her a larger one to curl around her back for back pain. Afterwards, she used it curled around her tummy for period pains.

Morning all, have not read the thread, do not want to get thrown off!!!
Brighter morning, had a bad night OH could not get off to sleep and then frightened me to death by getting up at 3am to go to the lav, and falling asleep sitting there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am just about to make the strawberry conserve, have stripped the bed and the sheets are in the machine, will go and put them in the dryer before I start on the conserve.........
Glad I am not going to my friends in Rutland today, one of the footballers is getting married in the next village and the reception is at a local grand country house hotel!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently all the roads around the village are closed except to locals whic means going into Oakham to get to where my friend lives, she has her horses in a field in the village and she had to go and feed them this morning, apparently she was stopped on the way in and out by police wanting to know her insdie leg measurement, if you know what I mean. Her gardener lived in the village so she phoned him and asked if he would check the horses later on.
Liver and bacon for supper tonight, unless I change my mind and do salad, we have not had salad this week.
I checked the water meter yesterday, it had not measured anything so guess we are using very little cold water............all the better for my purse..... we have not got a shower but bath every other day, I turned the thermostat down so the hot water is not too hot to have to put cold in, when we wash up, I draw the cold water from the hot tap into the kettle and just heat it up a bit more, bingo water hot enough to wash the dishes. OH says I should be rechristened Scrooge LOL............the only cold water we do draw is for drinking or in the steamer and I use that water to make the gravy.......
Right off to sort the sheets and put on the conserve.......
Have a good day.........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Well this is so exciting - I've got my own laptop!!!!:D I decided to spend some of my bonus in advance. Although we have a PC it's upstairs in the playroom and I don't always like being up there by myself in the evenings when dh is away. So we found a really nice Toshiba. Anyway I was talking to the friend that I work for and telling him and he's said that the company will pay for it for me:j as I work mostly from home for him. It's a lovely surprise as I'm sure that if I'd asked for one, he probably wouldn't have got me one - I think it's because I paid for it myself to start with.
Also a friend took some chutneys and preserves to sell for me last night as I couldn't go to the fete so I'm waiting to see if any sold
Just dropped dh at the airport - he's off to Texas till next Sunday with work - missing ds2's birthday on Friday - but ds2 has agreed to postpone it till Sunday - bless - he's only 7 - but they're so used to their father being away...
Want to have a good clear out whilst he's away and also make a "Quillow" for my aunt's birthday - it means I can lewave the sewing m/c set up for a few days. Dinner tonight - HM fish and chips by request.
Have a good day“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Good morning all
Hope everyone is well - it's pouring here - yuck!
I've had a really productive week - doing lots of batch cooking and last week painting my bedroom.
Am off out to get a roll of wallpaper this morning to finish off the room - girl power.
Hugs to all who need them today.:D0 -
In our yoga class, because they were filled with lavender, we laid them over our eyes are we relaxed.

wow thanks Queeniewe have been looking for 'something' to ease my Nana's neck but all of the bags we have found have lavender in and it is too overpowering for her. I think I might have a go at making the corn bags but am a bit worried that the corn will turn to popcorn when heated :rotfl: what type of rice do you put in yours ?
sorry to hear about your gran (((mrsmortenharket)))
(((((HUGS))))) to Kyle & poor Lorenzo - I have never broken anything either so I dont know if it should still hurt but I think you are right to give the hopital a ring just to make sure. Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
Good Morning All!
have done some ironing, two loads of washing and the Tesco run thus far. Am now poised for the first sound of rain on the conservatory roof so I can haul the washing in quickly! Strange day - one minute bright, sunnny and warm, then very overcast. Really poured down earlier too.
Amazed - and very thankful - that no-one on here seems to have been badly affected by the recent weather - the pics on last night's news were dreadful.
Am gnashing my teeth as the door on my washing machine is hanging by one hinge and I can't close it. neither DH nor I have nimble fingers so this could be expensive. Don't think it's actually broken - tho' of course it may be. Still, most washing is done and I could manage this week without it.
Mrs Mortenhackett - sorry to hear about your Gran ((Hugs)).
Hope Neav9 junior gets the job!
Hope all of you enjoy a happy and peaceful weekend.Resolution:

Afternoon all!
<<mrsmortenharket>>sorry to hear about your gran,
N9eavhow did your son get on?
Went to Borough Market yesterday, I just love it there. Bought some coffee beans, some fudge, some tablet (god that was sweet, delicious, but I found my face was screwed up while I was eating it), an array of cheeses, some bratwurst, and this week's fish attempt: turbot.
The guy at the fishmonger was really helpful. We bought a whole turbot, which he filleted for us. This gave us two large fillets and two small fillets, and we had the leftover bits in a separate bag to make fish stock.
So, yesterday I tried turbot in delicous beer batter...and it was...OK actually. OK enough for me to think I'll have turbot in lemon butter or something next time. I can't believe there's going to be a next time!
Busy today. Made one lot of seedless raspberry jam this morning, made the fish stock, and I've been hulling strawberries ready to make strawberry and champagne jam. I need to pop to the chemist to get some citric acid for it, so I'm hoping it'll stop raining soon.
I'm overrun with wet washing today, as we had quite a lot from the boat to wash. It was sunny when I started. Now the tumble dryer has been put into service, and its the first time in about three years that it's been used.
Plans for the rest of the day really depend on the weather. We want to dig a hole for the fountain today and get that moved, and I need to start digging out the St John's Wort from the adjoining bed. I've cut it back, but I need to dig it out by the roots as it's spreading into the lawn.
Dinner tonight will be French Onion Soup for me, probably Bratwurst for DH.
Back to work....
Have a great day everyone xxxxxx
