  • Hi folks. Appointment went fine today PLMBL and I will get results in Feb when I go to the consultant. Had to get 2 scans as they decided to inject me with 'contrast' to see things better. What a weird sensation that was I tell you. Felt as if I'd wet myself :rotfl:. Obviously I didn't.

I am a bit of a grumpy chops today. Manager in work was being a stroppy cow and annoying me. I just kept back from her. DS had an attitude the size of Glasgow so I hung up the phone on him earlier. A guy in a big boy car cut me up earlier and I was ready to chase him  and now a poster on here has really !!!!ed me off. Common denominator is me of course so I reckon I am being a grumpy moo.

Here is the thread and see what you guys reckon. I only asked for technical advice as I am a daftie when it comes to technology and that guy macman has really peed me off.

So I am going to clean up decorations and hopefully work off my temper. I need to collect DS later from a party and I'll need to drive through country lanes to get him. Not looking forward to it tbh but needs must. Everywhere flooding here so things are not so good. My wee micra might struggle somewhat. However I really hope ds has a great night as this is his first school party and he is mega excited. Think he fancies a wee lassie who is going to it.

So I will away and beat carpets and curtains and feel better. Probs where I belong being just a daft woman!!

I see what you mean about his reply....plonker, but to be honest I really didn't appreciate what teddysmum said either! I'm afraid I leave all techie tv stuff up to dh and I just look after the money side of it, would love to be as perfect as her :p

I think your doing incredibly well and you've had it damn hard at times, I just wish people would be less judgemental - big pet hate of mine. Take care with your driving it's shocking out there, our wee town made sky news on Xmas eve and again today! xx
  • I agree with nonnie, there are two problems on that thread and neither of them are you!! Xx

  • Thanks guys. I didn't think it was me. I just read her comment just now but gave her an answer as well. Honestly !! I asked a civil question and maybe I shouldn't have said typical woman but !!!!!! no need for that.

I am a typical woman and I am happy to admit that. I don't do technical, mechanical, am carp at DIY etc etc etc but I am a great cook, mum, baker, knitter, sewer blah blah blah. We can't all be good at everything. Some people are so touchy. It will defo put me off asking again that's for sure. Eejits :rotfl:

So I am home from my drive of terror. 30 mins each way in pitch black country lanes and pounding rain. Not good for the heart. But home now and that is the main thing. So proud of DS as he went to party without his best mate and joined in with the crowd and had a great time. A year ago he would not even have thought about it. In most ways the move to this school has been a good one. His confidence is through the roof.

We were on news earlier too Nonnie. Boats floating up the high street practically  Just drove past Balloch and the water is massively high there too. Hardly a bit of space under the bridge so it's getting quite desperate. Loch Lomond is full :rotfl:

De-lurking again. Not exactly helpful were they! I suggest you ring your local aerial guy and ask them. I have Sky (which I certainly don't pay for) piped into 3 rooms but we can only watch one & not record, although we do have hard drives that we can record on. Freesat wasn't really around so much then. My aerial guy was really helpful.

I suggest a bit of research first to see which channels you really want and which they come free with. If you want to know if any are free with Sky I will check for you. You will need a dish I think for either Sky or freesat. I wouldn't let it stop you from asking again, most are normally very helpful & prepared to explain everything, I think you must have picked a bad post Christmas day. Perhaps they are all still suffering from hangovers.
  • Thanks Patanne. Delurk any time you want :)

My DS has looked at this, I just wanted some advice other than his as he will tell me that the option he wants is best. DS has told me that freeview signal is very bad here but I may get another opinion on that. I'm paying over £80 per month for Telly, broadband and phone and I just need to get it down a bit. My electricity is £91 per month and I also need to try and reduce that as well. Argh. I just don't deserve any attitude from folks like them because I asked a question. My first reply to that guy was that it was none of his effing business and I kind of went :eek:to myself and held my tongue :rotfl:. Not like me !!

    I'll continue to research xx

You may just need a bigger aerial. I needed a 12 footer! You can google freeview and get some idea from postcode how good a signal you can get. If you lost analogue a few years ago you may find that freeview is a lot better now than it was as they could boost the signal once all the analogue had gone. Also the signal on a freeview TV is a lot better than from a freeview box. Shall I put you off sky by telling you they even have an exercise/yoga (free) channel.
  • Ha ha just what I need but would never ever watch. Well I maybe would watch but no doubt whilst eating crisps.

Asked local folks on facebook and looks like freeview is not great for here. We have a lite transmitter so limited access. I am going to call virgin and see what they can do for me as I have been a loyal customer since telewest and never asked for anything. So I am now on a mission :)

Do you have a freeview TV. If so have you tried retuning recently? Absolutely no point in paying for what you may just be able to get for free:money:. Lets face it there is only so much TV that any of us can watch (if we are over 18 anyway). The only problem with freeview is that you need to retune fairly regularly as they seem to keep adding/amending channel often (I must have 5 times as many now as when I could first get it).

I would try ringing a couple of aerial fitters with a good local reputation and see if they can suggest anything for you. After all your Virgin is never going to be free and a few months of it diverted to an installation may get you enough TV to keep the offspring quiet.
