Have you thought about using BT? I have anytime calls, unlimited infinity (is this available in your area) caller ID and it costs approx £42.50 per month. The best thing for me is that when you ring and say there is a problem they have no-one else to blame. When I had them for landline & another internet provider, as soon as anything went wrong they always blamed the other one. And by they I mean both of them & where I worked was even worse as we had 3 providers and they always landed up blaming the £600 call out one. They used to bill BT direct much to our amusement.0

I was on that thread last night looking for info on Now TV. My dopey sister asked for it for Christmas and has now exceeded her data download limit not realising it came down via the web.
I have found that the techie type boards here seem to assume that we are all techno whizz kids with a certain level of expertise.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
That's what I have discovered Maty and also they assume you are a man. Patanne my brother is now involved lol. He has a wee deal that will sort me out
. Need to pay some money upfront and then I will be fine.
So today I have worked at 2nd job and earned £22.50. This was not included in my budget so I have put it away into next month's cash drawer. I am trying really hard guys.
DS is doing my head in today . He is now trying to make amends and talking nonsense to me. He bought me a bottle of vinegar when he was in at ASDA with his uncle :rotfl:. He had thrown our old bottle out as it was out of date and I went nuts. I basically use it for windows :rotfl:
So this status has been sitting half written for 2 hours and in the meantime I have called Virgin. After getting through to cancellations I got a great guy who has upgraded me to a TIVO box. I can also keep my V+ box in DD's bedroom and another box in DS's bedroom. I have been upgraded to the superhub2 for internet and kept all channels and phone services. I will now pay £70 for 6 months and £75 after that. This is a reduction of approx £20 as my charges are due to rise next month and this price includes the new charges. I have also spoken to the kids and DD will pay £5 per month for her box and DS will pay £3 for his so another wee saving. I feel a wee bit guilty charging them for it but hey they need to learn that everything in life has a cost. So I will save at least £30 per month and have better equipment. Happy MIT.
I was nervous on the phone but am really happy I did it. The guy said to me that I should call every 6 months to check if they have any better deals5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

So glad you got it sorted - you must feel much better. I think you are a great mum charging the kids - my OH kids are spoilt rotten and it causes lots of arguments between us - they just don't know the value of money (usually our hard earned money)!!0

Thanks for that LAM. My pal said pretty much the same thing to me on the phone not 10 minutes ago so I feel a bit better about it. TBH they are both delighted. DD gets an upgraded box ( she likes her telly) and DS gets upgraded broadband and also his mobile is due an upgrade so he is getting an i-phone and we will go halvers for it. That will save me another £2 per month :rotfl:. Baby steps guys - baby steps.
Made chicken pies from freezer for dinner and I had a baked potato with mine. Totally scrummy. So since the oven was on it seemed sinful not to use it so we now have a lovely batch of scones cooling in the kitchen. Well minus 2 of them as DS and I snaffled one each as soon as they come out. Scones is one thing I can make without a recipe and they are dynamite. Will stick the majority of them in freezer and DD can take one out each day for her lunch.
So a night of knitting for me instead of sitting on here so I will catch you later xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Well lots of moneysaving news today and all good for a change.
Was making bacon sandwiches and I always only use the big bit of bacon ( forget what it is called ) but today I used the big bit for the sandwiches and stripped the rest of meat and fired it in my soup. I am actually quite shocked as to how much meat I have been ditching in the past. Shameful actually.
I then read my gas and electricity meters ( nectar points for that) and both have gone down considerably since last year. My electricity has halved :j so that is proof that nagging works. I am so pleased. My payments will stay at £91 for gas for a while yet though until I catch up but I am going to keep up with the nagging in the meantime.
I have defrosted soup for dinner and I have a joint of meat in the oven. I am hoping to get at least 3 meals from the meat. Meat now cooked and I have cooked for a lot less time than normal. Kids can eat the outside bits as they like it well done and I will eat the centre as I like it a bit medium.
2 loads of washing done and ironing up to date. Place needs hoovered but I cba now. Am watching Miss Marple that I had recorded and having a final chill out before work starts in earnest tomorrow.
Have a lovely Sunday folks. I am on track for a NSD and hopefully that's how day will end xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Ach well I didn't end up with a NSD but I did get a frys chocolate orange cream bar and a pkt munchies
. Healthy lifestyle is starting again tomorrow so they were a last treat.
I think my oven might be on its last legs . Made lazy aunt bessies roasties and even though I cooked them longer than recommended they were still a bit hard . I really hope it carries on for a couple months anyway as it is not standard size and I'll not be able to just buy any old oven. I already have a new hob still sitting in the box that my Mum bought me about 2 years ago so it would just be the oven. As a person who likes to cook tbh I am slightly excited at the prospect as I can't even see the markings on my oven to see what heat it's at and also the grill does not work and Oh my I miss roasted cheese. So I really should start looking at prices.
I also need new specs as it's getting to the stage that I can't even read with them on. My kindle is at about 5 lines per page !! Exaggerating for dramatic effect obviously but it's getting bad. I get free reading glasses through my work but I reckon I will go for varifocals this time as constantly changing over specs drives me nuts. The kids call me MIT 2 specs as usually one set on my face and one on top of my head. I am always losing the 2nd pair and then realising they are on top of me head.
So since posted earlier I have done 3 loads of washing and cooked dinner which was totally delish. 2 loads of sliced meat have been put away in freezer and a tub of gravy ready for the freezer as well.
