Well I did it, accepted the job, got the pay scale point accepted between me and them, spoke to current employer about reducing my hours. On more hurdle to get over and get the hours reduced from the higher management level - waiting to see if my proposal is approved.

I've worked out that if I keep my current pension going it will be reduced massively, so I can keep it going and due to the reduced pay means less tax and NI to pay so I might well come out with more monthly pay bizarrely. Anyway, will see in Jan as that's when I'm due to start - 7 weeks to go!

It felt nice to tell my colleagues and it feels nice that this job will be reduced down as I move to another phase of my career. It's what I wanted so much to change my career and I now have the opportunity to go for it!

    Onto other matters

NSD 15 and no clothes spend day 18! Going well, good job as no pennies left!

  • Fantastic it sounds like it was all meant to happen, I'm not religious or believe in luck but I do feel that some things are meant to be and whether it's good or bad at the time it will all work out.

I also believe that the work you put in will pay off.

What I mean from my ramblings is the job will hopefully be the start of a beautiful future, good luck.

Thanks, that's how I think about things too. What is meant to be will be as they say.

  • Worked out that if the monthly pay works out more than now, no idea if I've worked it out right, I can save that amount in my redundancy saver for 12mths, brill eh?

Hope I have worked it out right then I can have that redundancy/emergency saver almost where it needs to be. Now that will be a good outcome!

Another NSD today making it number16.

Told more colleagues at work about the new job and got more congrats about making the right move. Have decided if work don't go for the reduced hours then I will hand my notice in and find something else to make the hours up.

Feeling quite tired tonight so it might well be a super early night for me to fight off that bunged up feeling I've had all day

Amazing, the hierarchy agreed with haste to my request to reduce my hours. Can't say I'm surprised considering how much money they will save. More good wishes received about my new job today and what an opportunity it is. I totally agree!

It's all systems go as far as the start date is concerned. Just waiting for the official offer letter then I can look forward to starting in the new year. Only 4 more weeks of full time work left there, doesn't quite seem real yet, but getting more real as I prepare to leave the field I've worked in for all these years.

NSD 17 and of course another no clothes spend day too!

I will be having a Christmas break, still deciding about taking 2 more days off and a real rest before real life kicks in again. Will see how much leave I have left first.

Did have a good couple of nights sleep and hoping for another one tonight, of course!

  • I can't wait, College has 2 week shut down over Xmas and that's not included in annual leave entitlement. Very lucky!
