Funnily enough I've also been in business, in fact i still am. I accept things can go wrong but this was entirely forseeable and being a decent business is about dealing with the foreseeable effectively by putting procedures in place. Unforeseen circumstances is a different thing but when we have had a week of "7 times oversubscribed" "shares will open over 20% higher" headlines, I am staggered that anyone could seek to defend a company that has grabbed as much of this business as they could.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0 -

So am I but when I made it to the multimillionaire stage I sold one of my 2 businesses.
But I sincerely hope that you will eventually get over this and turn your life around. For the record, it is now 5 hours since market opened and the problems still exist. And yet some people think this is perfectly acceptable because they have apologised. Lol.I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying0

I can now login and my account is back (hurrah!) but the system still falls over when I try to sell or withdraw the refund.
Once I can get the account working I think I'm going to set an automatic sale for if/when the price hits 440p again. I've got better things to do this afternoon than watching the price tick up and down.0 -

Really who thinks that it is perfectly acceptable? I just sold mine after I had been trying to get on the site for ages. The delay has only cost me about £20 so I can't be too unhappy but I won't be using them again that's for sure.0

I've only been using HL since April (having invested a substantial amount due to a legacy) and am appalled by their service - today is the last straw and is actually the 3rd day since April when I have been unable to login for several hours to trade. It's all very well people defending them and say this was a 'once in a blue moon' type event with the RM sell off. The point being that any platform need to have computer systems robust enough to cope with that 'once in a blue moon' event as it could be you wanting to ditch your BP shares asap when they have a spillage or some over major event affecting the markets. I am certainly going to move a lot of my investments elsewhere. Does anyone have any experience in BestInvest as they were a close runner-up when I originally chose HL.
A very good point.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
