I get what you're saying. It's not the end of the world for me. But I do think I wouldn't last long in business (and I'm currently setting-up as self-employed) if I told peed off customers to "chill out, man"! I realise a sole trader isn't the same as a large business but surely the same principle applies?
In the meantime, I think it is time for me to go and "chill out". Time for an early lunch.0 -

But they aren't telling you to chill out (I did) they have apologised to their customers and are trying to resolve the problem.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Another one who won't be using them again and I know it won't affect them, but I do trade regularly not just when there's a major launch.0

No luck here with HL either, appalling service. Even though they stated they were putting on extra desks to cope.0

Where's the apology? Can't see anything on their site. Shares are dropping now.0

Can anyone advise how best to claim compensation? Is it just by writing to them, or will there be recourse to the FCA/Ombudsman etc.?
And are they to compensate only for the difference in selling price now vs when I wanted to sell (@8am), or also for my 4hrs of wasted time too?
I have sent them an email through their "Contact Us" Link asking them to sell my shares, and give me compensation. Suggest everyone else does the same too.0 -

Maybe I mis-interpreted your original post - if so, I apologise. But your posts are implying that it is acceptable for a company to take that sort of attitude - towards small and "once in a blue moon" customers.
Perhaps I did misunderstand your posts - I assume you are expressing the belief that HL themselves don't care about losing smaller customers (despite some of these customers being potential larger customers in the future).
I didn't come on here to get into an argument however. I'm fairly chilled myself but do think people who aren't have every right to be upset. What's a small amount of money to some is a large sum to others.0 -

Of course it isn't acceptable to be anything other than be apologetic, but what I am saying is that I understand sh*t happens and I wouldn't hold it against them.
But what I do hold against them is that they charge a holding fee on ftse trackers, which is why I don't normally use them.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Me too; this is the first let-down we've experienced from them. Up till now I'd have said "I don't care if they charge a bit more than their competitors, their service is excellent". Now they have blemished it.Free the dunston one next time too.0
