Anyone wanting to sell, the price is slowly edging down. For now, anyway!

You're right.... I've just lost £14 because HL logged me out at 8am just as was entering my order.

It's the sort of corporate fiasco where "deputy heads" are sure to roll.
  • I'm more concerned about my account seemingly no longer existing than whether I can trade or not.... Not sure whether to just come back to all this later or try calling to at least make sure nothing has disappeared into a virtual unreality...

Mine now says "You do not have any active Vantage accounts". Everything seems to have disappeared - my money, my shares....:(

Managed to login and discover I had my accounts back before I was logged off again. Logged in again and accounts have disappeared!!

This is becoming a total farce.

Will now be looking to take my investments elsewhere

That's what I'm seeing now: "You do not have any active Vantage accounts."

Oh, well. That's my life savings gone. Might as well go to the pub to drown my sorrows... anyone lend me 20 quid?

I just tried logging into my broker, Saxobank.

All working fine, I could even deal in RM shares if I wanted too :D
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

It is a one off day and most of these posters complaining are not likely to become regular new customers. But this really is a one off day, if people can't see that then they are not particularly bright. I've got some shares to sell too, but I'll probably just wait until Monday, what is the rush?

And what if there is a market crash? This may be a one off day, but that is absolutely no excuse. Plus, what I heard the other day was that HL were taking a large number of requests from their existing client bank.

My mother is an existing customer. Won't be for long.

  • I can maybe understand that they may have had problems during the open.

But now, 3 hours later, still no online access to my account (which hasn't got just Royal Mail)? Phone lines still busy? And the competition having no issues? That's unaceeptable.

In my book (and I have a fair bit of experience working on equity trading systems for the "big boys" in the past on the institutional side) that means

    They didn't plan for this
    They didn't see it coming
And even worse they seem to have no backup plan in place.

That's not what you would expect from a regulated financial services provider and something I imagine the regulator will be interested in as there should be contingency plans in place for "unprecedented" events like these.

I may have been wanting to sell since the open, and I haven't been able to.

I may have been wanting to deal on other stocks/funds/etc completely unrelated to the RM listing, and I haven't been able to.

What if for whatever reason the RM share price drops to 200 in the next minute and doesn't come back? Not that this is very likely, but it's a possibility.

    There should be compensation.

I will never use HL again.

Their head of investments was on 5 live this morning saying they were expecting it but clearly they haven't allocated sufficient resources.

    That is an oxymoron.

If they were expecting this level of demand for their service then they would have allocated sufficient resources; unless as I said, they don't care about the customer.
