Have done the switch off, remove battery replace and switch on. the desktop has loaded and it's told me that Windows has installed updates. Google chrome has opened without any problems and have been able to send an email from Gmail account. Hopefully this means the problem is sorted (maybe Microsoft have done an update which fixes the problems caused by the midweek ones).

    Hello There
I'm having same problems with updates as per my post below keeps freezing on window updates, been having problems with Aug, Sept and now Oct updates.

I'm now in so much trouble it won't even let me return back to factory state as I cannot access the Acer recovery program. Have also tried to go into Alt and F10 with no sucess, spoke to Acer about this and they say it has a hardware problem, but all was ok before Aug windows updates. have also done system restore that many times.

I'm at the moment in safe mode, and have very limit use on this laptop, will now have to look for new one.
This laptop is 3.1/2 years old and I have hardly used it, so not a happy bunny.
