Yes, and those on the motorway who think the speed limit is 90, and if you're in lane 3, expect you to pull into lane 2 even if you're in the process of overtaking a long line of traffic doing 60-65. I'll always move over if I don't have to slow down, but no way am I moving over if I'm forced to slow down behind traffic in lane 2 just because some moron behind thinks his right to exceed the speed limit is greater than my right to drive at it!People who think 30mph means 40mph and will ram themselves right up your backsides and look really put up, hand gestures and all, that you're holding them up when you're doing the speed limit.0 -

This is a particular problem if you are in the outer overtaking lane passing a near continuous stream of traffic at (or even a little over
) the speed limit and a queue of ton-up lads builds up behind you.
As the queue gets bigger the gap you need before you can safely pull in, let the speeders pass, and pull out again gets longer and longer.
Of course, you should pull in anyway (have you noticed, BTW, how, whenever TPTB issue advice for dealing with those breaking the rules, it's always that you should give in to them?), but you often wonder why you should have to be inconvenienced just to facilitate others breaking the law. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
            Another one!
Road I use every day to work - two lane road with a traffic light controlled crossroads, it narrows to one lane about 100 yards after the lights. Either lane can be used to go straight on, there are no road markings but it's obvious as there are two lanes on the other side of the junction.
If you use the right lane you might get stuck behind cars who want to turn right, but very few cars turn right at this particular junction. There's a bus stop just on the other side of the junction before the road narrows, where buses aften hang around, also there's a cyclist box at the lights so often cyclists filter to the front of the queue. So traffic in the left lane will often have to overtake cyclists and buses by moving into the right lane shortly after the lights.
I always use the right lane unless I can see cars ahead indicating right. The right lane always has a much shorter queue. Yet you get numpties in the left lane who think they have the right to pull into the right lane after the lights to overtake cyclists and buses regardless of other cars being in the right lane! The idiots probably think those in the right lane are queue jumping, when all they've done is used a legitimate lane which had a shorter queue!0 -
Yesterday I had 3 people who cut me up on a roundabout by crossing into my lane, which is stupid.
I also had 2 who were pootling along at 40 in a 60 road and 30 on a 50 one, which is bad manners.0 -
Fog lights are the worst! A while ago I was following a 4x4 who had their rear fog lights on when it had been foggy but had then cleared up. I'm of the view that even if it is foggy you can turn your rear light off when somebody is behind you as they know that you are there so you don't need to warn them and you should definitely turn it off if its not even foggy!
I flashed my lights at him thinking maybe he had forgotten he had it on, but he refused to turn it off. After following for a couple of miles the opportunity to overtook arose and so I took it (shows just how foggy it was!) and once in front I flicked my rear fog light on and off in the hopes of teaching him something. What did he do? He turned his full beams on me for the entire time he was behind me!0 -
Worst drivers are those who take unbelievable risks on motorways. You don't need a degree in physics to realise that if you're tailgating me at 70-80 mph, and things were to go wrong, then not only will you die, but you'd probably kill me, too. And then there are those that travel at 100mph doing a zig-zag pattern -- undertaking and overtaking without even looking. Just weaving across all 3-4 lanes i.e. from lane 4 to 1 in one manoeuvre, stay there for no more than 5 seconds, then go back to lane 3.0

            My personal pet hate:
If you're queuing to pull out of a side road and the car at the front of the queue isn't moving, it's probably because there isn't a gap in the traffic for them to do so. Sounding your horn and flashing your lights isn't going to make a gap suddenly appear! (Is that just a Portsmouth thing?)
And people who think their indicators are for decorative purposes only.:mad:
And (a few months ago now) the eejit driving down the middle lane of a motorway, at 35 miles an hour, with no lights on, at dusk, when it was both raining and foggy. I didn't quite drive straight into the back of him / her but it was a close thing!:mad::mad:
Ranting can be quite therapeutic sometimes, can't it?
                        Back after a very long break!0 -
I use Cruise Control and constantly have people rapidly approach my back end in a 30mph limit - so there is no way they are even close to 30mph - more like 40 - 45mph.
I also set it to about 74mph on Motorways and do use the inside lane as much as possible. But I do have people who come speeding up behind and then sit on my rear quarter as I approach traffic and need to pull out, even when the road ahead is clear in the middle lane as well as clear in the 3rd lane. I indicate and wait for them to move out of the way - !!!!!! - either speed up, slow down or change lane - it's not rocket science.
On a couple of occasions I have slowed to 60 to allow the car to get out of the way, only to find that they've slowed as well. !!!!!!!! Is it some kind of cat and mouse game to them?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
Saw a Fiesta driving up the A299 just outside Whitstable at about 21:30 with no lights on. No amount of beeping or flashing made them realise.
Hope they made it home OK.0
