If the slip had b*gger all detail on it, then that's ur postie at fault. Name, address, reason for it being undelivered, which type of item, date, etc are all things that can make the parcel easier to find.
I do agree that she does sound a bit of a jobsworth, but RM area managers regularly check that rules are being followed and if they were in the office there's no way I would have taken the chance in risking my job because you hadn't taken the card.
As I said 9 times out of 10 with appropriate ID I would have given you the packet. But with AM in or any big wig you wouldn't. In fact I even asked our First Minister for appropriate ID one day, but that was more the fact that he threw the card at me and was an ignorant 4rse:rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

Maybe the OP can ask the depot when is the next time this area manager will be around so they can swing by show them the state of their parcel? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

9/10 they would have no idea when the AM would show up as they do unannounced visits. This way they see how the place is run, but once they turn up the staff would be on eggshells until they leave.
no good announcing when they will turn up as the depot manager would have everyone out with spit and polish, so the AM would never see the deport at it is on a daily basis0 -

I think you missed my point. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
I'd say most people don't like the postal service the way it is. Most people would prefer it if it was privatised so it'd focus on the customer rather than the ridiculous rules and the unions.
Anecdotally, I would disagree with that. The Royal Mail are not without fault, clearly, but no-one I know thinks that privatisation would be a good thing at all.
Give it a couple of years after it is in private hands and then I suspect you'll be looking back fondly at the time it was publically owned and run, and likely a lot cheaper to use when they didn't need to force ever greater profits for their shareholders...0 -
Picked up 2 signed for packets this morning from the local sorting office - didn't sign for them.
A mate who works there says they do play catch with items marked fragile and open (and play) all the DVD – amassing amount of !!!!!! even with the InternetDo you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -

CityLink

DHL

in fact ALL couriers that leave a card if you are not in will have a number on the card to arrange redelivery or the depot the item will be returned too so you can go collect as long as you take the card and ID
so its not just RM that ask for the card.
One of Citylink's orcs once left the card for a delivery of mine at the bottom of a 24 storey block of flats half shoved under the door. Their excuse - he couldn't work out the door entry system! That would be the one with the 30" tall brass plaque with the instructions in 2.5" tall letters next to the buttons. Another delivery driver left a case of ale for me outside the bin room as his satnav took him to the service entrance and he couldn't get in. A case of ale outside a building on a service road - that's bound to get where it's meant to be :rotfl:
So it's not just RM that has "special" levels of customer service. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Citylink are the worst around here by miles. The last time I had a delivery from them this fat sweaty wizard huffed up the path, put the card through the door without knocking and jogged back to his van. I caught him before he could make off and when I asked why he hadn't done his job, he just shrugged and said, "Well, I didn't think anybody would be in." He even had the parcel with him. Pathetic.0 -
It's still a stupid rule when you have full ID.
Agreed. When this happened to me a few weeks ago, I had a driving licence, 2 other forms of work-related photo ID and by chance a bank statement and passport with me but no red card so I had to return home for it before I could get my mail.0 -
All postal services are mostly crap because if they get it done right you think nothing of it because the least you expect is for them to delivery or collect.
It's when they fail at the first hurdle by not delivering or collecting, then you're instantly infuriated! (well...I am, anyway)0
