Right, I spoke to the woman behind the counter, I explained the situation to the person on their twitter account and I complained to their lackluster complaints department.
They all said "I'm sorry. It's the Royal Mail's policy that to collect a package you need the slip posted through the door. If you don't have it then we can only redeliver"
Who's right? You or the 3 other people who basically read from a script.
well Im going to say me
It is Royal mail policy as linked
http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help-and-support/Ive-received-a-Something-for-you-card
they arent going to say dont bother bringing the card
however the procedure of no red card is the previously listed ID backed up by proof of address0 -
ive picked up too many parcels to count without my red slip.. i just take my bank card0

Your mistake was to leave without the parcel, I would have stood there blocking the window whilst the queue built up behind requesting my parcel until they handed it over.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

How can it be their policy that you have to have the redcard when half the time one is never left because they can't be faffed to fill it out?!First home purchased 09/08/2013

Life is slowly slotting into place :beer:0 -

There policy is that you have to have that stupid card or you can't collect anything. 3 member's of staff said it in 3 different places.
I think if you get staff who don't ask then they're using common sense. But like someone else said, if they are being watched then they're going to ask.
It's just one of the stupidest policies I've ever encountered.0
