  • I picked one of these up today, we have the usual condensation issues and while we have done as much as we can to limit moisture in air on days like today we have washing to dry - wife and kids away at a dance comp all weekend so loads of washing. I also spilt a bowl of water in a bedroom carpet while cleaning up so i just decided to get one and stop dithering!

I have it running in the room with spilt water on auto, its pretty noisy but the room was 79% so i assume its running at full tilt - it is certainly pulling water into the reservoir.

Having never had or used one before i can not compare it to anything but it seems to be doing its job!

You have a lot of moisture in your home hence why its running at full tilt once the humidity is down the dehumidifier will only kicking in once it reaches a level you set it at should be around 50-65% humidity

    I've been Money Tipped!
I bought an Aldi dehumdifier last week and seriously considering buying a second (not necessarily same Aldi model).

I am so impressed with the amount of liquid its collected and the difference its made in the two rooms we have run it in I think our old, rambling house would benefit from having one upstairs and one down stairs.

Having read about the difference in operation type here I wonder if I should get the other type for the second machine.

It IS noisy, the Aldi one, but its also not that bulky and easy to operate. I we had a smaller, more modern house with heating that worked I'd be happy to stick with this one. Having found one of our down stairs rooms had a humidity reading of 87!, I think it deserves a dehumidifier of its own till we can address why. ( it felt a little 'moist' but nothing like that!)
  • I have been following this thread as I am looking to buy a dehumidifier as we get a condensation in windows and have a damp problem we are trying to solve (have another thread running on this) where our walls are getting damp patches when its wet outside. At the moment we are borrowing a dehumidifier and its removing a lot of water and stopping the damp patches but it is really noisy so we looking to get our own.

Our house is a 3 bed end terrace and the whole of the downstairs is open planned. Would one dehumidifier placed downstairs be enough for the whole house?

We are looking to spend under £200 and very nearly brought the Ecoair one (from the first page) but got put off by the problems someone had.

I live in a 3 bedroom semi which is open plan we keep the dehumidifier in hallway and its quite it runs 24/7 and set for 65% and doesn't in run all time it uses 260W when on

Its also small and doesn't block our hallway.

It isnt cheap one but I heard Mitsubishi ones are very reliable and quite

  • We had one of these for the bedroom: http://www.schneider-electric.co.uk/documents/installation-systems-control/other-offers/ventilation-heating/dhmd102.pdf

Very pleased with it, even running throughout the night, very little condensation on the windows, however, the machine has now broke, it appears the compressor has failed :(

So many different makes / models, would be very grateful if someone can suggest something very similar to what we had?
I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you
