Are these legit? I'm wanting to buy the Nikon 1 J2 Kit and it seems the cheapest here.

Thanks in advance

Ah that's great. Thanks very much for your help.

laurenatts, you posted exactly the same drivel, including the fictitious location of Landon, on Trust Pilot.

Tiptop Electronics have been threatening various websites whenever anything negative about them is posted which is why my response to Sneaker was removed.

They have an account with Trust Pilot which allows them to remove any negative comments by saying they are from unverified customers, but posting positive fictional ones of their own.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tiptop Electronics get MSE to remove this comment.

    Depends what you call `legit`.

They don't seem to have a great track-record if you search the internet.
They seem to be based in (or at least run from) India.
They have some very strange T&C's, that should sound alarm bells.

Not a very busy facebook page, but quite a few disgruntled buyers who don't get prompt (if any) replies.

A good thread on ukhotdeals, if you wean out the fake reviews. (Including the same one from laurenatts on here )

Coopdivi, that thread you linked to is quite illuminating! (and funny. lol) http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/tip-top-electronics.510733/
tbh, tiptop don't seem to be helping themselves, do they.

Hopefully buyers will wise-up to these foreign sellers setting up .co.uk sites and dig below the glowing surface & realise the potential issues they face.

yehhh... I was also surprised with their price. I just talked to over phone with them, they said they have best price in market. and I ordered Sony NEX-VG30EH PAL camcorder at Tip Top Electronics. they deliver it on time.
I am impressed with their service, fast delivery, best price and acknowledgment through out process. I will recommend everyone to buy from Tip Top Electronics.

Just my opinion but I would personally avoid them

I purchased a projector from this company mid January. The projector had a fault and had to be returned.

Since returning the unit I have had neither a replacement or my money back. After countless emails and phone calls I was promised a refund that would have to be paid in instalments due to the company having their accounts frozen and unable to pay the original amount in total.

Weeks have passed and I have now been told that the company don't have the necessary funds to pay ANY of the refund. My calls and emails are continually ignored and I am preparing to take them to court.

The prices do look very cheap and to their credit they did supply me with the original (faulty) item but their after sales service is diabolical they continue to trade yet "can't afford" to refund me.

Avoid at all costs, if you do deal with these people and things go wrong, don't say I didn't warn you!
  • Why would they have their accounts frozen? Sounds more like they are struggling, unless they're trading illegally somehow?

Can you claim against your credit card company?
Hope you soon get this sorted.

I made this purchase via a bank transfer with my visa debit card which I assumed gave me a level of cover. I don't believe they were taking payment via credit card at the time of my purchase although it is an option now.

I have contacted Nationwide regarding the matter. They have informed me that I am NOT covered due to the fact that I made the payment via the sort code and NOT the long number running through the middle of the card I wonder how many people are aware of this?!!
  • That is very worrying! Is there anyone else you can contact for help or to put pressure on? (Trading Standards, or even the police?)

    Good luck with this.
