I was really disappointed with the picnic hamper I won in the summer, it was stated to be worth £80 and be filled with loads of cartons of juice plus crockery, cutlery etc - when it came it was the flimsiest wicker basket ever and all it had in other than the juice was 6 small plastic plates.

Other than that, not really had a disappointing win yet!

LOL - I got that hamper too! The plates made us laugh so hard, it was worth the win just for the hilarity. Worth £80 my a**e. Plus, they're selling the cartons of juice dirt cheap in my local Cool Trader which basically buy up the stock other places can't get rid of! :rotfl:

Other than that, I won some make-up which I really wanted. When it arrived, I had to pay £35 in customs fees and then the makeup caused a rash all over my face.

I also won 6 PS3 games which I had to chase for 7 MONTHS and when they arrived they were scratched, dirty review copies not even in PS3 games boxes! They were in re-used CD cases. Not happy at all with that one.

I've never had a bad prize. But some of your stories really made me giggle.... especially the muddy boots haha.

Karma Clothing do a weekly giveaway on Twitter and I'd been entering every week for aaaages without success.
Then I eventually won and was so chuffed as I had picked out a lovely cardi for the winter.
They DMed me to ask my size and I wondered why they hadn't asked for my choice. I asked them and they said the prize was pre-selected. I was a bit disappointed but thought it couldn't be THAT bad.
It WAS that bad. It was a cropped white vest top with ENGLAND written on it in giant red bold letters. That was it.
It was the worst prize ever and I don't even think anyone would buy it in a charity shop so I still have it in my drawer!
Feb wins: Angry Birds mug, £250 Perfume Shop bundle :D

How about the first prize that never was?

About 5 years ago I won a 1 week holiday in a luxury villa on the Costa del Sol (flights not included but that didn't matter). The comp was run by a holiday lettings company and they gave me the villa owners contact details (email only). When he eventually replied he told me he had no availability at the villa for the rest of the year. No problem, I replied, how about next year? I never heard any more and after chasing up the lettings company they eventually told me that he was no longer on their books but gave me an alternative - just as posh - property. Again I contacted the owner, again no availability for months, again I suggested the following year, again no reply. At which point I lost the will to live...

I once won a pair of knickers from a naughty lingerie company once - they were white and had a picture of a pink piranah fish on the front! The piranah had a huge grin and spiky teeth so I doubt they would have made pulling pants - they would have scared any man off!!!!! Anyway, I donated them to my local charity shop as I thought it would give the old ladies working there a giggle!

  • It's surprisingly upsetting to read some of your replies. I feel really bad for the person who won a holiday that they couldn't book. The excitement that would have come from that would have been amazing and I think I would have cried if I found out I couldn't go on it. It sickens me that companies play with people's emotions like this.

And what's with the Piranha undies? It sounds to me that it was stock they couldn't get rid of. It makes you wonder who designs these things!

I agree - some companies do disappoint and the holiday one was awful! I also find it annoying when companies run comps then the winners spend months trying to chase up their prize! I have had to do that a few times (one blogger took 7 months to post out my rafflecopter prize) By then the spark/happiness of winning has completely died!

I had a phone call from Morrisons saying that I'd won a Stella Cidre hamper. They checked that I was over 18 so I was looking forward to some lovely cider. When it arrived I opened up the wicker hamper and found a picnic blanket and a corkscrew.

It's a nice wicker basket but who uses wicker baskets for picnics? It's coolboxes all the way! I am donating it to a charity raffle but I'm worried that people will think I've drunk the cider so I've bought some Stella Cidre to put in it.

So a rubbish prize that has cost me money to give away.

  • I've only ever won one competition. It was through the BBC, and it was a copy of Dreamcatcher on DVD. As a Stephen King fan I was really happy...until I watched it!

A charity shop would've taken the items :)
