Hi, Ive been thinking about posting on here for a while as I keep reading the thread. Im married and have been off the pill since Jan 2013, although I didnt keep track of my cycle etc as thought it would all happen naturally, I had an early miscarriage in August of this year and my periods havent been right since, my last cycle was about 7.5 weeks long! Hello and welcome. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It can take a while for your cycles to go back to normal, so don't worry too much about that, although obviously it's best to do what you've done and see the GP if you're keen to try again asap.

Day 21 bloods are a good start to find out if you're ovulating at the "usual" time (i.e. day 14) - although many people don't ovulate exactly at this time, so they should look into it further if it doesn't show what is expected.

In terms of signs of ovulation, everyone is different (and in my experience, different cycles can be different!). There are a number of possible indications, such as a certain consistency of cervical mucus (sorry if TMI), position of cervix etc, plus obviously things like OPKs. There's a really good book called "taking control of your fertility" (or similar) which talks about ovulation signs which might be worth a read.

I'm a fan of OPKs, which tell you when you're about to ovulate. Personally I start testing at day 10 and carry on until I get a positive - it may be worth you doing the same for the first couple of cycles until you know approximately when you ovulate (some people ovulate as early as day 10 or as late as day 20, depending on cycle length).

Feeling a bit fed up today. Saw a colleague I haven't seen in a couple of weeks today and she has a huge bump that I swear wasn't there last time I saw her. Anyway, my immediate reaction was "it's not fair - she's already got one and she's really annoying so how come she gets more and I don't." I don't even think I've ovulated yet!! So I've been in a grump since then.
