  • oh meant to add i am going to start taking my temperature too to see if it helps.
i felt really bad yesterday - OH wanted to BD but I said no because it wasnt the right time & we had bd the day before. I soon caught myself on & we did bd in the end! Does anyone else bd for the sake of ttc rather than fun?! its scary how easily this can effect your relationship!

Daisies egg, as long as your temp is fairly consistently taken over the month you'll see a jump when you get to ov.

You can miss a day or two, put in a weird time a couple of days, it doesn't matter. When your temp goes up it's obvious it won't matter. I did used to set my alarm at the weekend though if it was at a crucial time, if it's not just don't bother taking it that day.

0dpo is the day you ovulate. So I used to wait until FF had confirmed it for me. It was usually 1 day after getting a positive opk.

Sorry hope no one minds me popping back on here but I spent 2 years temping so may as well pass on what I learnt!
  • Hi ladies,

Congratulations to the BFP that ive missed.

Hugs to those that need one.. :grouphug:

Sorry not been around for a week or so, had a little set back and still not feeling great, :( .. pretty pathetic really, but my best friend has just told me she is pregnant. She knows ive been trying for nearly a year now, and i think the way she told me was pretty insensitive. She just blurted out she was 6 weeks pregnant and then wouldnt stop going on about how she had only has the coil removed in august and she was planning on starting to try summer next year - and it 'just happened'. why cant it 'just happen for me' ! im doing everything by the book, i dont smoke, im not overweight, i eat healthily, i drink during AF only. i take all the vitamins possible. I spend a fortune on POAS every blummin morning ! she is is the opposite of the above and 'it just happened'

Sorry i know i sound so selfish, i had to go to the toilet and the proceeded to cry, i had to pull myself together in order to leave the toilet and try and make out i hadn't just spent 10 minutes sobbing! that was difficult. ( i dont know what she must have thought i was doing in there!) I congratulated her and made my excuses to leave.

Im such a horrible person. i felt awful when i got home, i sobbed on OH. So anyway, he completely gets how i feel now. so there is one positive. I did however, compare having a baby to him getting a new xbox - stating that if he wants something he goes and buys it and can have it straightaway - and that i find it frustrating that we have to work so hard for this, and all we get is disappointment every month! - it would be easier if we could just choose a baby off the shelf! Completely irrational - crazy talk!

He promised to make extra effort on the BD front. ( as we were heading to ovulation..)... then my next set back has come, im on CD 24 and still no high on my CBFM. im so cross. so my 3 days of BD (unheard of) has been a complete blummin waste of TTC time!

    Sorry for my rant. x x x

    kel x xx

Please can someone help me with some questions? (Sorry - annoying newbie asking constant questions - sorry!)

So sorry about all the questions and thanks in advance to anyone who tackles them for me! :)

    Hi Daisy,
I found FertilityFriend really helpful. You can sign up and use any PC/laptop and there is also an App. It has lots of useful info on there and explains exactly what you are asking about (I know 'cos I had the same questions)!
I know some people have their FF charts "linked" so you could see them - if you go to the first page of this thread and click on any of the blue names.

    Hope that helps

Hi...thank you very much :) I actually have been using Fertility Friend since August. I even splashed out on a year's subscription and everything! Unfortunately it doesn't really answer my questions, particularly about the timing of temps and especially what to do if you wake up less than 3 hours before your usual time! It really seems to want temps taken at exactly the same time every single day and if it hasn't been the same, it doesn't want to recognise a thermal shift and it reckons I never ovulate :(

Thanks for your help though :)

kellykins - you are not a horrible person! I think it is perfectly natural to feel upset when there is something you want so much and have been 'working' for and trying really hard for, and someone else gets it with apparent ease. Sending hugs :(

    hi daisie
i use the IC ovulation tests you buy on either ebay or amazon.
i start testing around day 8 as my cycles are sometimes 25 to 32 days long
i pee in a sample bottle & just dip the test in for 10 seconds.

i might be wrong but once you get a positive ovulation test, you should ovulate within48 hours. so once i get a positive test, i would say i am 0dpo

do you know what i mean? i am not completely up to date with the abbreviations but the first page or google usually help! its only recently i realised what poas was lol!!

Thanks, I know what you mean. I have ovulation tests from amazon (possible the same ones?) though I have nothing as fancy as a sample bottle - it is a specific Tupperware container that now only gets used for this :rotfl:

You're welcome - it's all really confusing isn't it?! I'm sure it gets better over time. I was almost in tears the first month FF seemed to indicate that I was actually ov'ing!!! I'd convinced myself I wasn't! (don't know how really, except for being paranoid!)

Have you looked at the Charting Q&As under the "education" section on FertilityFriend, in particular the "temperature and temperature taking questions"?
    It has Q&As such as:
    • Same time or three hours of sleep: Is it more important to take my temperature at the same time every day or after at least three hours of sleep?
    • Lost sleep: I never get three consecutive hours of sleep. Can I still chart my temperature?

I took time to look through those and found them helpful

Claire's advice is best though ;)
