I have a question .... reg nursery furniture. I'm planning of buying a chest of drawers and a wardrobe... do I need to buy specifically baby furniture?

Reason I ask is it seems a lot cheaper when it's NOT in the baby range...

P.S I realise the wardrobe rails would not be really suitable for much baby clothes to fit in but if we were to fit a spare rail and have two rows??

Con, we have a built in cupboard which will have drawers, shelves and storage boxes in, with curtains instead of a door. We have a white cot bed and 2 chests second hand from mum, one of which fits a changing mat on top. So no... I don't believe you need specific baby furniture.
We might put a rail in the cupboard, but undecided as yet. It is easy enough to add a rail... hubby has in his wardrobe. :)

I was hoping so... but being a first timer thought I would check.

When I lived with parents I had a walk in wardrobe and we removed the door then fitted ikea fittings to make it much more organised and tidy, then an ikea door.

In baby room there isn't an existing cupboard but its a lot cheaper to buy a 'normal' one and customise, plus I will get more choice.

    Thanks :)

Been AWOL for a few days.. Hope everyone is well?
I've been continuing to car shop with no luck so far. Siljou I think it was you that asked what we were looking for? We're checking out zafiras at the moment (or a few different models of estate cars). Hubby's car not bad size but boot isn't great... I want something with a massive boot, we travel a lot to family etc so thinking of fitting all the essentials in the car!
Off work this week so the hunt is on!!

Feel like I've started to feel a few baby flutters but can't be really sure that's what it is (and not wind lol) x

20 wk scan tomorrow, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves! We WILL be finding out the sex!!

Bump is definitely getting bigger, struggling to fit in any clothes now! Going shopping after scan tomorrow!! X

OMG, just seen an advert for Detol laundry detergent. What an absolutely lovely way to ensure that a generation grows up with no immune system with crazy overprotective parents. Urgh. :( I hate all this antibacterial cr*p

sorry, just needed to vent :o

Con1888, I too have some lovely belly hairs. Not lots thankfully but def a few!

  • Con I've suddenly noticed fine hairs on my belly too :/

Been shopping today and bought two sleep bras (£24! *Faint*) and two non-wired bras (£28! *faints again*) from mothercare and some over bump jeans from New Look. Not a fan of New Look sizes and had to get a 10 for comfort on my hips but they don't feel as nice as my usual next jeans :( plus the over bump band is still too big at the moment! But I didn't want to splash out £30 on a pair from mothercare also had to get boot leg rather than straight cut but I'll get over that.

Also got some 0-0 month tights (ASDAs version of new born!) And bf's mum wasn't wrong they are flipping hard to find anywhere!

Shouldn't need bras again for a while unless i have a major boob growth spurt so at least they were investments, the sleep ones will be good whilst nursing too as the front is on clips so you can drop it either side :-)

I have belly hairs :( very light fortunately but not a pregnancy thing, lovely pcos instead ;)

Faith the best package deal I found for the cameleon was at http://www.kiddisave.co.uk/brands/bugaboo/bugaboo-pushchairs.html think it was £809 for pram, car seat & adapters. We paid £680 for pram today (very expensive but I felt nothing compared to it) and then £55 for maxi cosi cabriofix on price match offer earlier in week. Will get 2nd hand adapters from eBay.

Regarding the Meriva - it actually uses the same chassis (on the non-new shape anyway) as the corsa, so not actually that long at all, it's just a better use of space. I've parked mine next to a golf and the golf was actually longer!

Con, Re furniture, I personally think the specifically baby range furniture is a waste of money. We bought a pax/nexus wardrobe from ikea so we could put whatever shelf /drawer /rail combination in that we wanted, and a malm chest of drawers to match. £177 later (granted is only a single wardrobe)... Sorted :) We went for a higher chest of drawers, so we're going to get a cot top changer mat for £20 so we still have a decent height surface to use for changing :) HTH

Hope everyone is ok after the stormy night. First day of half term for me & I've only just woken up! Yay. Needed that.

Getting fed up of 'friends' judging or commenting on how much our pram is costing. Next person who says anything is going to get it! We waited a long time for this baby & saved for ages. If I want to spent £10k on this navy, it's no ones business but ours! ( I'm not but still!)

As it happens, the pram is the only big expense we really have. We are lucky in that most family have offered to buy other stuff and Ill make sure I get bargains for them! We're not fortunate enough to have family/friends with little ones so no chance of borrowing baby stuff.

    Rant over!!
