Once again Hachette, what advice did your solicitor give?

I went to see solicitor soon after it happened. The reason for that was he he was also qualified vet. I could not get my head around the fact that my vet ignored my dog's blood test and knew that RCVS will take months to get back to me. His advice was to wait until I hear from RCVS . He did warned me not to put my hopes up and explained what I am standing up against. I thought everything was so clear. She was paid to do blood test to see if my dog is fit for surgery. He was not, she proceeded,he died. What was the point of blood test?

Well he was right she has explained her way out of it . Apparently looking at the empty blood stained syringe and making clinical judgment is within the guidelines of how to treat a dog when there is a danger of him bleeding to death.
I did say to RCVS that I was shocked that that what they teach our future vets. If you look at RCVS web site most of complaints are about negligence but hardly any go to investigation or DC hearings. All these people that had dealings with negligent vet had to give up as chances of winning are slim we therefore still have these bad vet in the system.

One more disturbing aspect in this case. Maxie was returned to me wearing pressure bandage with very thick padding it covered most of his body and felt tight.I had no idea why it was put on him but did not question that at the time. According to Dog Health and Care web site the pressure bandage is used when dog is bleeding heavily and should not be left on for too long as it can cause tissue damage. Why was he wearing this? Was she aware that he was bleeding and regardless gave me my dog back? If so this is the cruelest thing you can do to a animal owner. When asked she said .."a small amount of discharge was seen after surgery no more than 2-3ml I asked for bandage to soak it up .. also thought it would make this easier for Mrs...".
How was that going to make it of easier for me? I have never seen any animal wearing such contraption after surgery. I have got a picture of it. Big breach of Animal Welfare Act 2006 section 9(1) and 4(1b) comes to mind.

The question is would you be happy for my ex vet to treat your animal companion?

I would assume you are not going to use that vet again.

And will go on doing so.
She is not in business to "help" animals. She is providing a service for a fee.

There is no doubting that it can take a long time to move on from the loss of a pet, but pursuing a fruitless action is not going to help in that process. Counselling would be far more productive for the OP.

    That is my worry.
