My dog bled to death 2 hours after leaving veterinary practice

You clearly have a case.
You could claim for a refund on the surgery and perhaps what you paid for the dog.
Is this what would like to do? Would it give you closure?
Have you sent the vet a letter before action? Do you have what the other vets said in writing?
(Dog owner)
At last I have some positive response. Yes I have sent the vet a letter before action. I asked for all the money that I have lost due to Maxie's death £2000. Their reply was few days ago just a compliment slip saying my letter was passed on to their layers. I gave them 2 weeks to reply so expect a letter from layers shortly.
As to the vet acting by the guidelines I have not seen anywhere any advice to the vet saying that she can determine if blood with critically low platelets will clot by looking at the empty blood stained syringe. This was her explanation why she proceeded with surgery. I have learned about platelets and what to do if such low count shows on the blood test within 15 min. She has studied for years. No human surgeon would dare to proceed in such circumstances. Yes financial reward/refund will not bring Maxie back but if I do win I will have the satisfaction that I have proven she was wrong and hopefully she will never act in such unprofessional manner again when life is at stake.0 -

Can you break that down? (i.e. Surgery £x, PM £y, Crem £z, Solicitor £a, dog £b)
Up until now I don't remember you mentioning you'd gone to a solicitor. If that's the case, what do they say?
Did you have pet insurance for the dog?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I understand your distress at losing a much loved pet, but wouldn't it be better to let this go? The more you fight the system, the less likely you are to come to terms with the pets death. Best of luck in whatever you decide.0

You original post asked just one question:Do I stand a chance in court for negligence?
Surely that is a question you would've asked him.
Not really sure what you are expecting from this forum.
Did the solicitor give advice similar to most posters here?
I.e. probably not worth pursuing legally.0 -
hollydays, I must say that you are coming across just as crass as some others.
I am a poster who suggested getting another dog.
I haven't deleted, edited or changed my post.
I am sitting in my office with my dog on my feet.
So far, we have been told that the OP wants "Justice for my dog", now the RCVS has said it's not professional misconduct.
We don't know exactly what the OP means by "justice for my dog"
Is it financial compensation?
Is it getting the vet struck off or imprisoned?
Is it something else?
What is the "justice" that the OP wants?
Sigh-no, another poster suggested it, removed their post. Where did I address that to you?
Do explain how I am crass here?
Before you hurl insults, get your facts straight.
We all are asking the OP what it is they want. That's not an attack but a question were trying to find the answer to to assist them.i agree with pink shoes, it's partly closure.0 -

Sigh-no, where did I say that you addressed it to me? I didn't.
I clearly said that I am A poster who suggested getting another dog. Not "I am THE poster that hollydays was talking about"Before you hurl insults, get your facts straight.
Sigh-yes (rolleyes) etc.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?

As for your crassness, the OP all along has been talking about going to court, about compensation, about legal redress.
...and you want to compare someone whose focus is on a court case with someone who has just lost a child.
That's crass.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Hachette thanked me for that post.0
