And your answers to the other questions please. If your dog were stolen would you report it to the police and expect it's return? What status do you expect animals to have?
I don't think you've thought this whole status thing through properly, so say animals did have the same status as humans, you wouldn't have had your pet in the first place.
The idea of human pets it outrageous, give animals the same status and it becomes no different. It would be as wrong to take an animal from it's natural environment and force it to live in your home as it would a human, there would be no pets, no farms, no zoos. You couldn't do it to a human so why do you think would you be able to do it to an animal of the same status?0 -
I think this thread is best left to die. The OP is not going to take notice of any advice unless it agrees with her viewpoint.0

Strangely enough I did have my black lab stolen 10 years ago. I have traced the woman who took him and yes I did report it to the police and yes the police did investigate but not enough proof to take action. However I did get him back. Just because I feel that animals are sentient beings, which they are, that should be recognised by law. If it was it would not make them humans to say that is just silly.
So you agree your dog was property/a chattel when it suited.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

As indeed it is.
You have already acknowledged that the Animal Welfare Act 2006 exists... see post #167/168.
In this context, what else do you want?0 -

Yes but in law my dog is still a thing rather then being. How can I compare my dog to lets say kettle or toaster?0 -

The fact that my dog is property/chattel is not because it suited me when he got stolen. That is what he is in law. If he was treated by law as sentient being I still would have reported his theft to the police.0 -

If your dog was not property the police would have had no interest in his whereabouts. It's BECAUSE he was property that you were able to report him stolen.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
