Can I respectfully suggest to everyone that we let hachette do what she is intent on doing. Nobody I suspect will convince her to do otherwise. We appear to be going round in circles.0

Yes you are quite right, but I think people would like to know the outcome of this whole sad situation. The fact is that I had to post my dog's death on consumer rights forum. That is because my dog was ..property by law,???!! Sod the law, he was my pal my friend my everything. Love you Max and will fight for you always. x0 -

Lets put this way. Idexx lab created blood testing machine. With that they produced instructions how to operate it and how to read results as there are some things that machine cannot do. For example if platelets in blood are clumping the machine will not know that. That is why in their instructions they stress that any abnormal platelets count must be double checked by blood smear test. They said MUST and NOT that it is advisable or recommended they said MUST in bold letters. Well she ignored that and it resulted in Maxie's death.
If you bought lets say a radio and instructions said not suitable for outdoor use, you took it outside in the rain and it broke down would you stand a chance to get your money back? No because you ignored the instructions. It is sad I have to compare my dog to radio but after all he was just a chattel by the law in this country.0 -
I don't know what status you expect a dog to have, they're not human no matter how much we love them, they're animals. Where would you draw the line? Should cats have status? Horses? Hamsters? Rats? Snakes? They're all pets loved by their owners.
Do you want pets to have the same status as children or spouses? Do you want them to be free to choose in whose home they live? I bet you'd soon want your dog classed as property if it were stolen.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Also if it goes to court I will ask my vet if she had read the instructions for her in house blood tasting machine. She will have to say yes then I will ask her what these instructions were. There is only one set of instructions. I will ask her how does she understand the word "must" is there a different meaning to it?0

If you were not present then how do you know it was not a machine failure.0 -
Don't you understand, the machine was not faulty. These machines can give false reading in regard to platelets count as platelets can clump (it looks as it is less of them ) that is why abnormal reading of platelets has to double checked.0

If what the OP says is true, then whether the machine was faulty or not is irrelevant. The instructions say if a certain reading is given then a secondary test should be carried out. The certain reading was indeed given, but the secondary test wasn't carried out.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
