That is exactly what happens by some companies.

Not that I've ever come across. Would you like to name them, and tell us how you actually know??

Then maybe you could take back the comment that implied that I was talking rubbish, as now you are just claiming that some companies do this.

No, I'm saying a nod and a wink and a tap on the side of the nose from someone who knows someone that once worked near a fuel refinery is not enough evidence for me to consider worrying about which outlet I buy my diesel from.

If that level of evidence works for you, roll with it

BTW, we did put a man on the moon, it wasn't all a big conspiracy

My info is got from closer sources than that. Apologies if I gave you with the impression my opinion was derived from 3rd hand heresay.

Even so...can I supply you with hard proof? No.

    What companies?

Seriously, I would like to know what companies you believe do this?

Even ignoring the big players BP and the like, the smaller companies deliver in exactly the same way.

I honestly don't believe you know anything about this at all.

Eg. Shell can't even prove their own FuelSave advertising claims - remember the old "FuelSave saves you up to 1ltr of fuel per tank? Shell's test: sample size of 10 cars (4 of them available in the UK), and 6 "had the potential to save 2% of fuel or more" (ASA Adjudication on Shell UK Ltd)

We need to be careful what to draw from that ruling. It does not state that there is no evidence that the Fuelsave fuels improve mpg. It states (I'm paraphrasing) that there isn't sufficient evidence to support the claimed scale of improvement across a wide enough range of vehicles.

The comparison to Bertrand Russell's excellent celestial teapot analogy isn't really fair here either. There are measureable differences in material properties of fuels (e.g. the cetane number of Fuelsave diesel), and the effect can be tested. The trouble is that you need properly controlled laboratory condtions to do so. Fuel companies do test fuels but unfortunately don't publish results. From this I think it is fair to conclude that the differences aren't huge (or they'd tell us) but I don't think it can be concluded that there is no difference at all.

Well use whatever fuel you want, nobody is trying to change which fuel you use. But just because you choose to use supermarket fuel, it doesn't mean that it isn't of a lower grade than branded fuels.

    What do you mean?

Don't accuse me of trolling, just because you don't agree with me.

When have I ever claimed to be a copper?? :rotfl::rotfl:

It doesn't take much intelligence to know that all petrol burns violently, regardless of grade. He is winding you up, and you fell for it hook, line, and sinker. :rotfl::rotfl:

PC carter sounds like its you who is hook line and sinker. How many posts have you made regarding a bloke you dont know now? Insight part of plod training now?
Have been told on this thread that petrol burns. Been told on this thread petrol wont burn. And have been told by a bloke who knows what his on about that the fuel migh have been the cause of some breakdowns. I know who im listening to.

The other poster was arguing that the fuel was the same standard, because they use supermarket fuel, and they don't think it is any different.

As I said previously, when have I ever said that I am a copper??? Get your facts right. One person in another thread accused me of being a copper because I am blue light trained, because I and many other people proved them wrong, and they thought it was some sort of insult. If you are that same person, then weren't you banned under another name??

It seems that everyone in the world (except you and your mate) knows that all petrol burns. So your mate was talking 'something that comes out of a male cow's bottom'. It doesn't take much intelligence to work this out.

    I didn't get this from a mate, I didn't have to.

You don't agree it's the same standard though (before additives)?

Errr, petrol generally doesn't burn in liquid state -- it needs to be vapour.
