I've made the cakes using shop bought mix. They were fine. Am going to try this next, using a sweet filling.

I'm going to have to give the cakes and omelettes a go. I'm sure my kids would love triangle cakes and great idea about splitting and spreading with jam. I'm thinking maybe cream too......0

Just had a go at cherry sponge cakes in my sandwich toaster.

Its a bit of a novelty really, but I made 12 of them in about half an hour. I'm no expert but I think it may use less electric than using my oven to make the same amount of cakes.0

didn't think about that but you are right, it probably will use less than switching on a main oven. I just think it is such a fab idea and a bit different!2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0

Just ordered a Smart Price sandwich maker for £4.54, picking up on Wednesday, looking forward to trying this out for cakes. In the meantime I have a breville but it is the one for paninis with flat plates, may try putting one of those silicon eggy holders on it and pouring in the sponge mix, then when it's a bit set, take the egg thing off and put the lid down.....might work? Still happy to have ordered a shaped one, can always change my mind and take it back I guess!0

the silicone one might squash too much when you put the lid down but one of those stainless steel ones might work0 -

Yeh, glad that you enjoyed them.
Daft isn't it, I posted it and haven't even tried them myself yet!
I think it is because I only bought my breville a week or so ago, haven't used one for years since I dropped my old one.0
