Free Eye Test at Optical Express

I had my eye test on the 10th March and said I will call in weekend (16th) to choose glasses as I wasnt sure on the legal side of getting my prescription...
I have no intention of buying glasses from OE but will be able to get my prescription without any hassle?
Where do I stand legally?[/quote]
I took advantage of a free eye test at OE while up in Scotland. After the test I was sat down in front of the manageress and felt pressured to buy. I declined and said I'd call into my local branch when I got home.
I wasn't impressed with the 2 for 1 offer they had at the local branch. The frames for the second pair were from a poor looking range tucked away in the corner, the lens for the second pair were inferior. I was told they'd be ok for a spare pair.......Of course I could upgrade if I wanted to.....
I said the offer was not what I was looking for and asked for a copy of my presciption. I got this no problem, they're legally obliged to give it to you. Just make sure they get the optician to sign it0 -
My daughter had her eyes tested at optical express last week, they did not want to honour the voucher, i could not be bothered and just paid it. I felt incredibly pressured to buy glasses . i was worried because their precription differed too much from my daughters previous script. I was also worried because they seemed generally incompetent . took her to specsavers today (where she usually goes) and had her test redone. Her eyes have not changed at all! optical express precription was wrong andRunning_Horse wrote: »James Murray Wells, the spammer! The offer said OE, not VE. by a large margin too. read the reviews on the net about them...I will not be going there again that is for sure.0 -
Hi, when i click the link from the original post i can't find the voucher for the free eye test. Have they finished this offer now?If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed back out?:rotfl:0

I had mine done in Brighton last week and was surprised when the guy shone a light in my eyes for awhile, checked out my existing glasses, then manually slotted in lenses in the big clunky 'glasses' the way they used to do it... and that was it. No electronic equipment, no red and green backgrounds, or any of the modern stuff. Anyone else have that experience?
I also found that I couldn't see as well through the lenses I ended up with as I do with my existing glasses, though he said this was because he was using three separate lenses.
He said my prescription had hardly changed at all (not what I expected) and only recommended getting new glasses because I've broken the leg of mine*. The salesman (or a manager perhaps?) didn't put any pressure on me at all and when handing me my NHS voucher (for my complex prescription) even told me to make sure I present it if I go elsewhere... Sounds like I got lucky there!
Cheers,
Lindsay

If you still want a voucher, try this link:

I got a free eye test thanks to my employer form Optical Express, and bought the cheapest pair of glasses I could from them (though they really tried the hard sell on thinned lenses, which cost a staggering £199).
However, I now want to use my prescription to buy glasses online, but nothing on the prescription says which eye is which. Does anyone here know how to figure that out? The two results are side-by-side.
Thanks!

when you follow the link the voucher is not there (they have some other vouchers). Can someone provide a working link to it?0
