hi all - would just like to ask a question:- I usually have my eyes checked etc at D&A (they have my details etc) - if i was to go for the free eye test at optical express would i need to 'register' all my details with them?? would they know that i am 'registered' with D&A?? - can i 'register' with more than one optician??

    thanks for any helpX

You would have to register certain details like name, date of birth and address. Optometrists don't interact/communicate with each other, so they would have no idea if and when you had been seen elsewhere.

There are Dollond and Aitcheson coupons in the latest Marks and Spencer magazine for a free eye test and 20% off a pair of glasses. Magazine costs £1.20 if you're not an M&S account holder.

I can see why you're saying that, but when you look at it on a larger version it's 08, the pixels are symetrical. It's maybe caused by it being resized on the forums.

You could always use the free eye test from Vision Express then order the glasses online and save!
James Murray Wells, the spammer! The offer said OE, not VE. I know a number of people who work for OE, and wouldn't have my eyes tested there if they paid me.

I had my eye test this morning, no problems. The eye test was as usual, I showed them the voucher right in the beginning and they had no problems honouring it. Afterwards, the optometrist who did the eye test accompanied me down, to handover to someone who could show me spectacle frames, however i said i was busy and would come again - he didn't seem to mind at all. So I didn't have to actually spend anything for this free eye test.

did you get your prescriptiopn to take away?

My wife had her eye test at Optical Express today and they were trying to pressurize her into spending around £150 for one pair and when she asked for a copy of her prescription she was told this could not be given as the eye test was free!!

Legally, they are still obliged to give you a copy of your prescription, once the eye examination (& not the dispensing) is complete. I'd have further words if I were you. This sort of practice is giving my professsion a bad name.

    Hi,

I had my eye test on the 10th March and said I will call in weekend (16th) to choose glasses as I wasnt sure on the legal side of getting my prescription...

I have no intention of buying glasses from OE but will be able to get my prescription without any hassle?

    Where do I stand legally?
