So is your contention that no one should ever take a view of their own situation that is anything but completely grateful while there is someone in the world worse off than them?
There may be some sort of android logic to the idea but it goes completely against human nature and is hardly practical.
A bit like people who post 'first world problem', implying that the first world shouldn't be worrying about any of its problems because there are less well off societies in existence. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Do people post "third world problem?"
I know people post "first world problem" as a joke when the problem is trivial but I've never seen "third world problem" posted.0 -

Wow, this sums my Brother up perfectly.
Always claiming to have no money and complaining he'll never be able to afford to leave his council house, yet having 3 holidays a year, a new car and always going out? He's always saying how hard up he is.Pants0 -
Tbh if people are happy with their lifestyle and you are happy with yours leave them to it. I dont own my own home and I may not ever, but I dont live beyond my means, Im just on a low income. I get my haircut at very low costs, I shop in places like home bargains, aldi, charity shops, the last pair of jeans I bought were from barnardos, 99p.
If people want to spend all their money on cars and going out or takeaways and then complain they have no cash, thats totally up to them.
They might have a lightbulb moment, they might not. But everyones priorities are different. If someone who had a lot of excess money and really wanted to get on the property ladder wanted to do it, they would find a way. I think its pointless getting upset about people who wont save, thats entirely up to them and if people are getting their ears bashed, ask them to change the subject.
Also, its entirely up to you what you tell people about the amount of savings you have or whether you want to buy a home anytime soon, its no ones business but your own, the less you tell people who want to make a meal of it, the less of an ear bashing you'll get when you see them.0 -

I was about to come on here and start my own rant about exactly the same thing - people complaining I 'have more money' because I've managed to save £10k in 2.5 years on a barely-above-minimum-wage job! These are the same people who earn twice as much as me (at least), drive a new car every year, go on a holiday or two every year, had mummy and daddy pay for college and uni (and get regular handouts from them), go out every weekend drinking, and have the latest gadgets and fashion! Aaaaaargh!
I was moaned at by one of the above individuals this week because I didn't want to waste £30 travelling to London in order to spend the weekend getting drunk (have no idea how much the actual weekend would have cost once I arrived, but the hotel she wanted to book was £120 to start with). I was described as 'tight', 'boring', 'stuck up', 'may as well be dead', 'weird' and 'cheap' in less than five minutes!
I've been asked several times by different people why I don't 'get a decent phone' (mine is 8 years old, does everything I need and never breaks), why if 'I have loads of spare money' I don't come out clubbing every weekend (I hate drinking... regardless of cost), why I take public transport instead of buying a car (works out cheaper, plus we have no room outside the flat for another car), etc, etc.
I don't have rich parents and I realise that if I want to get out of the horrible renting situation I'm in (another story), then I have to save like a crazy person and adjust my lifestyle accordingly until I reach my goal. No one else is going to help me. It gets really annoying having to justify my decisions all the time. I don't comment when they come in hungover on Monday mornings and take weeks off to fly to Ibiza or wherever. They want to party. I want a home. Why can't other people just accept that?
Keep up the good work and don't let them get you down!
Well done, that's an amazing amount of saving. Keep up the hard work and you'll get out of your horrible renting situation.
I don't like clubbing either. We would probably get on well.0
