Unkind? The OP spends £170 on eating/drinking out a month ON BENEFITS. Many people cannot afford to do this whilst working and paying taxes which fund the benefit system. There really is something wrong when benefits- meant to help those who cannot help themselves -are enough to cover luxuries that many working people cannot afford.
I support the benefits system, but the OP is on the equivalent of £30k a year.
I would normally agree with you if I knew the full facts, however
as already pointed out the OP may have disabled children to get such a high rate. There could be other reasons. I think we need to know the circumstances before we judge.
We are entitled to benefits ourselves that we don't claim as I am not a great supporter of the benefits system. There may a very good reason here that could change my point of view.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -

Under what circumstances would the state decide that it was necessary for someone to be given money to eat/drink out/have coffee and sandwiches/pay for satellite TV? I totally believe the state should feed and clothe and care medically and educate. But meals out etc? Are these necessary expenses, under any circumstances?0 -

Totally agree with you, that's why I refuse to claim benefits. However that's what the law says they are entitled to, what they choose to spend it on is a different matter.
I have spoken out loudly against the benefits culture, there are plenty of people on here with good incomes claiming benefits (and still in debt) with thribble the income we live on but I repeat until I know the facts I am keeping quiet.Tallyhoh! Hi.....I have been lurking for a long time but this has made me come out of my shell.
Guitar lessons ? Can you afford this luxury ?
Child care....you don't work so why ?
Sky TV ? £49p/m sky internet/tv package ?? I use freeview and free sat...cost £0.....go to a lower tariff
Holiday and Xmas total cost is £1900 for this year ! Do you really need to save this much up ?
Driving lessons ? It will NOT save you money. Running a car cost a lot more than the £122 you currently pay per month
TV licence £288 per year ?
You can easily be £200 per month in credit instead of debit if you think a little and cut down on some luxuries.

Child care is 25 per month. I go out once a month with friends and i have to pay for the care.
Guitar lessons are for my autistic son... Not a luxury when it is the one of two things that he enjoys
Driving lessons are needed to be able to take my son to hospital appts and at present i have to taxi him to school each day.
The water and tv licence are due to go down in November and the electric is including arrears that built up.0 -
I have decided that this site has done nothing but ridicule me. I honestly came here for help!! I have worked since i was 17 yrs old and was made redundant 2 yrs ago. I care for my son and trust me if i could just walk into a job that allowed me regular time off when my son has hospital appts or melt downs so bad he can't get up the next day i would take it!!
Sky tv was taken 6yrs ago and i never thought about reducing the package ad it includes the internet and phone which i do need!!
What is the point of people being on a forum to support each other when u don't take the time to understand0 -

I have 3 debts not included on here but others have been added i.e. Electric cost.. Tv licence... Water0 -
The thing is, it is difficult for people to be able to help and support you when you have left out very important information from your first post.
I assumed you wanted help with debts, but could only see one loan repayment. Why don't you start again with a full, frank, and honest post about your past, and current situation and where you would like to be in the future. Then perhaps you will get the help you seek.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
I tried to be as honest as i could to start. This is hard and i obviously have filled things incorrectly but i didn't expect to be dragged to the cleaners. I am sure there are genuine people out there to help... But people just judged. I am more upset now for admitting my problems on here and trying to seek advice than before0
