I agree too many posts get bumped for no particular reason. And yes, its nice to chat but most comps that get bumped are just because people say thanks, which is really unecessary when you show your thanks by pressing the thanks button.
Also, i've not come across any 'ignorant, rude' posts by people stating theres a duplicate entry??

I was wondering that too littleholly. Normally when I do them I just post a link and a 'check your thanks'. I haven't seen anyone being rudeAl Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

Agree with fluffynit, were not at work are we, so its nice sometimes just say thanks if you want to . My beef is when people are ignorant about duplicate posted no need for rudness ,ok got that off my chest now
I don't think people mean to be rude Summer, I think they just keep their posts short and sweet, to let people know it's a duplicate so people don't enter twice and risk their entries being thrown out if only one entry is allowed. If people click on the thanks button after entering a comp, it's a way for them to check later if they entered or not and avoid multiple entries. So, people tend to just say 'check your thanks'.
It's sometimes difficult to find comps by searching, that have already been posted so duplicates are inevetable. It doesn't matter because there's always a few who missed it the first time round, as long as those who have entered know.
Hope all that makes sense lol. Happy comping everyone.

i stumbled apon this site at the end of may 07 when i wanted to claim my bank charges back and with martins step by step instructions on what to do i was completley successful, then i had a nosey through the site when i came back to thank martin at the end of june for his help and came across the comping section and i'v been hooked every since!
the money i have saved amazes me as i used to spend a lot of time on ebay through boredom mainly, now i only use it to sell instead of buying. i enter about 70% of the comps and i the prizes that i have won but had no use for i have given them away( sporting events tickets in manchester and coventry)
to people on freecycle after offering them on MSE first.
i agree with the other posts about it being addictive, i wake every morning and wonder what the posty will bring and when i receive a phone call from a number i don't know i always think it may be a winning call.
i think the people are great and always hit the thanks button on any comp i enter, i like to see new names also as it shows just what a great site it is if new people are joining in with the cheeky banter that we have.
i do think that there are a few regulars who take it a bit too serious though, there has been the odd snipey comment replied to peoples threads!!
anyway i always send a link to people for this site because I LOVE IT!!:j0 -
It doesn't take that long to enter comps if you use Roboform/Google toolbar and only enter the ones you want.0

I joined Loquax years ago and when/if i go on there which is reaely now i always go to the ones added today. The thing is they seem to duplicate comps i think just so it looks like they have quite a few on there. So for instace they might say there is a new comp but say 5 days later they will do it again.Darren0

If its just to say thanks then thats what the thanks button is for, however we dont want to get carried away keeping all comunication in the discussion area.
People write a response to threads all the time, its part the community aspect of the forum, if you want to check if youve missed any threads/comps there are thread tools to sort the threads by start time.
thats my 2 penneth worth anyhow..
