Thanks black-saturn got there after a bit of work mine calls it AutoComplete
And unfortunately only seems to work with IE. Typical of Microsoft to hide something this useful and leave it switched off.
    Irrelevant thought :-

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here and drink what comes out"?

Wins:- June Nufink - July Nufink - August Nufink - September Nufink YET

I hope I don't upset or offend anyone with this, but I've noticed that there seem to be a lot of threads getting bumped to the top with 'thank-you' posts lately.

I know this will get moved to either game over or discussions, but some people may find it useful before it's moved, so I thought I'd mention the 'thanks' button in case some people weren't aware of it.

Most people tend to click on the 'thanks' button when they've entered a competition. The button then disappears, so it's an easy way to check if you've entered or not.

While of course anyone is free to post whatever they want on the threads, the forum soon gets a bit cluttered when older threads are bumped to the top when someone adds a post just to say thanks. I do it myself sometimes, if I've a comment, or a question, & I don't want to stop the friendly chat that's so nice in this forum - that's the last thing I would want, but perhaps this will help stop some of the bumpage!

If anyone disagrees with me, that's fine & I'll shut up - hope I haven't upset anyone! :)

I think you have a good point there!
I think maybe its good to bump up a thread on the day or day before the competition is ending so that people who missed it first time around may get a chance to enter? Obviously this cant happen with all the competitions, just an idea!

yeah we had this debate away back in may (or june), can't remember. I can see how it can be an annoyance, but on the other hand, like you say, the forum chat is nice and friendly.

I don't like comp posts which just have "bump".. it's unecessary

I've just had a rant about 'thanks for posting' on another comping forum (not sure if I'm allowed to name here).
I think it's often people trying to boost up their posting rating.
99% of people find the 'thanks' button, so thanks to the OP for pointing it out to the remaining 1% who insist on making a new post for each thread.

There are plenty of other comping websites that are free to use - a google seach will show you the way.
I've never paid for comping since I started in 2002 and have won thousands of pounds worth over the years.

Agree with fluffynit, were not at work are we, so its nice sometimes just say thanks if you want to . My beef is when people are rude about duplicate posts no need for rudeness ,ok got that off my chest now :p
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it♥
  • I think I enter an average of 1200 - 1500 a month. I usually only do the comps on here as that's more than enough to keep me busy! I started in March this year and haven't done too badly. My first win came about 6 weeks after I started I think, you have to allow time for the ones you've entered to reach the end date, and they don't often draw the winners straight away, and they don't always let the winners know straight away either so it does take time. Keep the faith, the prizes will roll in eventually.
