We get that many cold calls that even my kids do them to me to wind me up.Last week I was at my brothers got a cold call asking for his wife,I just knew it was one of my kids so I put on my accent told them to f off and that I dont own the house or speak english.I got home and thanked the kids for winding me up now, but it wasnt them after all.Better watch my language in future.
  • For a nation of consumers, advert junkies, debt mountain and panick petrol buyers we really get annoyed with cold calls.

Again, we are becoming too American, they have had autodialers, cold callers form the 60's.

I dont think that sort sales goes on in the more civilised parts of E'rp. Sorry Europe.

    Have a neyesh day y'all.

when i get sales people ringing me i say i'm not interested if they still carry on i put the phone on the side and let it cost them money and waste there time. the longest a sales person has been on the phone before realising no one was there listening is about 10 mins :rotfl:

I have found TPS very helpful. It has made a real difference to us

With DS now six months old, the few rogues that slip through the net have been cut off in the first sentance with 'please take me off your calling list' repeated until they hang up.

One did ask "Why?" I was tempted to answer "Because you've been naughty!" but instead said that because I was registered with TPS they could be fined.

My favourite (when I had more time) was when someone rang to try and promote the photograph scam, and I spent about half an hour trying to persuade them that photographs stole people's souls - look at all the bad things that happen to celebrities who are photographed all the time! - while my DH laughed his socks off. :rotfl:

I may give in to temptation and tell them I won't speak to them because they have been naughty - or I could get out more :)

I get cold callers at home - we too are on TPS. It would be ok if they went after telling them you weren't interested but that call back time and time again and are soooo rude!!!

My brother did something similar with a double glazing company in Birmingham. They kept calling him every week for about 2 months, and he kept telling them he wasn't interested as he had just had double glazing fitted. In the end, he did what cuffie's friend did and strung him them along. When they came to measure, he told them in person that he had invited them over to see for themselves his new double glazing, so that they would be in no doubt at all that he did not need their services. He never heard from them again.

exactly the same as what my dad did :rotfl: :rotfl:
think the bloke wasnt best impressed and had a little argument with him but yep it worked, didn't hear from them again!!
Afew weeks ago a man phoned to offer me a lone,i told him i'd not long won 8.4 million on the lotto and dint really need one,his reply was congratulations on your wealth and put the phone down.
A few years back we were having a new combi boiler fitted,as we were on this brit gas home plan thing were they service your boiler ect they kept calling to arrange for one,but everytime they were told their is no need we are getting a new one....20 phone calls later they still didn't get the message so i let them come out to service the boiler that was on the driveway!!!! Lol

Some people through no fault of their own may need any job just to make ends meet at a particular point in their lives. Or have personal circumstances where the type of job they can get is limited. I don't really see how saying 'thats no excuse' when people are just doing their jobs is really fair.

What about my personal circumstances. I have just got home after a long hard day at work and am them bombarded with unsolicited phone calls in the privacy of my own home. If these people continue to invade my privacy then I will continue to handle the call in whatever way I wish. If they don't want people being rude to them, don't cold call - simple really.

Especially as they are breaking the law by calling TPS registered numbers.
