Hugs CY. I hope your mother's next set of test results come back with some better news.
It's heaving down here, thunder, lightening, the lot. We wanted to take Mrs Dog to the chalet beach at low tide for a run with the dog she'll be spending a festive day or two with in December, but it's out of the question in this. Tomorrow is due to be better, apparently, so we'll try again then.
For the last three months I've been searching CSs for a couple of brightly coloured duvet covers or sheets to remake into cushion storage bags for the chalet, so they can live under the bunks without getting covered in dustballs or going mildewy if they're put away damp. Yesterday, bingo! I found two matching doubles in an excellent CS in Ivybridge (excellent local charity, too). Got them home, opened one up - 100% cotton, superkings. So, that means I now have two more bits of bedding for this house and still have no cushion storage bags. The search will have to continue.
Going to see if I can get the film catering file sorted today, so that I can clear the pile of cookery books out of my office and the bedroom. Then I can go back to sorting the crockery for fleabaying and that'll clear another gibble nest in the office. After that, I think I'll put all the linen back into the settle which the antiques restorer clearly isn't going to come and collect, seeing as he's not replied to three phone messages and didn't pick it up three weeks ago. I hope he's alright but I fear not, as he is an older gentleman.Better is good enough.0 -
Really, really weird. The antiques man just phoned.Better is good enough.0

We are all shopped out. Remembered DD medicine, something for friend coming to tea tomorrow, plus I've got a little Christmas spirit
so have toffee vodka in the making and some Christmas pudding flavour brandy (bit of an experiment this one). Also got a cheap-ish cardi to leave in my locker at work as I'm often colder than I expect there.
It's really foggy here today, the damp in the air makes it feel colder than it probably is. So DD and I are tucked up with apple juice / cuppa for a cuddle on the sofa. We've nowhere else to go until school run and hopefully she'll be good for a nap too
Right. Need to wash the slow cooker and get the beans soaking for tomorrow...Bossymoo

Skint breeder I chuck 1/2 a mug of kitchen salt dissolved in a large (3 pint) jug of boiling water over the base and tendrils of the ivy every now and then. It's the only thing I know that works other than chemicals and I don't use those. A bonus is it also gets rid of weeds in cracks in patios etc. Don't let it go onto the lawn though, it will kill the grass!
Thanks for the tip Sparrer I have used soda crystals on back patio before but it used up about 5 packets worth. I have 90 metres of ancient fencing with ivy all over it.
My new-ish NDN (the NICE ones) are talking about replacing all their boundary fencing, which will be great for me, because most of the roots are on their side. I just have odd runners that have got fat over the years. Although I could swing at mattock at the ivy roots, if I misjudge it by a fraction of an inch the fence will collapse in a heap of dust :rotfl:The cold never bothered me anyway0 -
Morning all, just reading thru the posts. Was supposed to have a music lesson today, but its monsoon weather here and my street is flooded, not walking thru that! I have to walk to work at 3 so that will be bad enough!
Me and OH are thinking of fostering and we had a phonecall from the foster company this morning, asking the first set, in what I can guess will be, of the endless questions. They will get back to me in a couple of days, and maybe arrange a home visit.
Just2Ashamed wrote: »In ouchy news, I trod on the upturned plug from the vacuum cleaner (in just my socks) and now my foot is bleeding and sore... woe is me!
I have a fear of doing this, ever since my granma did it. My plugs are always pushed to the wall if not plugged in. _pale_the council are dithering over whether the 3 pieces of a settee make 1 collection out of my 5 piece allowance or 3 pieces of the sofa mean 3 collection credits! I despair!
Surely if the guys turn up once, it's one collection! What next? Counting the sofa cushions as extras?!Oops that is one thing that drives my DH up the wall.. I always use a different mug/glass for every drink. And I won't use the same mug if it's for the same drink..oh no it has to be clean. And yes I usually end up with several mugs in the bowl by the time he has come home from work.. Still at least that way I know how much liquid I have taken in during the day...hehehe
I'm notorious in work for rarely washing my cupit stops everyone else from drinking from it!
At home I'll use the same cup for everything, tea, orange juice, coffee, all day (with maybe a quick rinse in between)
I'll have a fresh cup for bed, then try to hand it to OH in the morning for my morning cuppa, and she'll refuse to use it. It's only been used once!:rotfl:

I'm struggling today. I don't like being dogless.:( I specially don't like being dogless in the first few days after such huge characters (personality-wise) have gone home.:(
I need to keep busy - if I stop, I start thinking, and that's when the BD creeps in. So far today I've done a WM load of towels, early, while still on the [STRIKE]cheaper[/STRIKE] less hideously expensive leccy, made the base for a pizza and washed my black dress (yet another one that runs better than Usain Bolt). Also done 30 mins WiiFit - that was hard, as I missed Bailey plonking his soggy, stinky soft toy on the balance board.:D
Kazw I hope the three-legged pudd'n-cat is ok - feel-well vibes on their way for him.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Big Hugs CY and some gentle hugs and posi-vibes for Mum xThe cold never bothered me anyway0

I'll just run downstairs and make myself a :coffee:, then I'll do a HHP (painting the airing cupboard - woop-woop!) while you clean.
Oh, and we have a new lawn!!!! Even better, I've been told *not* to try mowing it this year0
