Saturday I had a father in with three kids and he ordered one kids meal and two extra plates. No problem. The he complained there wasn't enough chips for all three kids lol

We have no problems serving kids meals to any " child". But the kids menu is a colouring page and comes with a carton of squash and icecream with sprinkles included in the price so we don't get adults ordering from it. We are also happy to split meals for kids as tbh our kids burgers are the same size as the adults

Older guests who require smaller meals from the main menu get what they want and the price is reduced to accomadate But then we cook to order and meals aren't pre portioned and pinged as they are in so many fast food outlets

It seems ridiculous to enforce a rule like this as you could visit one day and the child be 10 but on her 11th birthday the next day the child wouldn't be able to eat what she liked the day before.
    Totally immaterial.

True if you are not very bright and either don't understand or don't care if you lose customers over a rather pointless rule using a randomly picked age.

More material to any business person with a more savvy outlook who could work out a way to achieve their goal without using a number plucked out of thin air.

I love eating out but due to medical issues I only eat small quantities.

I usually choose off the lite bites section of menus if there is one but sometimes order from the childrens meals (not of the chicken nugget and chips type though!).

Another strategy is to just have a starter or if its very small I might have a starter and a dessert.

Huge plates of food put in front of me make me feel queasy so its not a case of just eating half and leaving the rest, which some people might suggest.

I would quickly leave without ordering anything, any restaurant which does not provide such a service. I also would never return there!

We are the customers, source of their income!! Come on folks, vote with your feet! Don't accept becoming the servant to the service industry!

At the end of the day, it is their business and they can run it how they want. If they make choices that annoy people, they will lose customers and have to re-address to become profitable or go out of business.

They are not there to 'serve' us and provide us with a service or what we want, they are there to make money. It is not a charity or government run situation.

It annoys me when I can't order a kids meal because I love fish fingers often a lot more than the posh adult menu haha. Yet it is not an option, they chose that, it is their restaurant who am I to moan? I can't go in and demand what I want.

People confuse good service of places with what is the expected.
Letting someone older order off the kids menu is 'good service' not letting them is just the status quo.

If you don't like it, do as you have and leave.

If they make profit or loss or how they chose to run the business is up to them and not for you to debate on. As long as they are within the law & health/safety guidelines.

You what? It is down to the business as to what price point they sell their wares and what ages they want this to apply to.

Who is to say they lose more customers than they gain and again an assumption by you that it is a randomly picked age, I doubt very much it is randomly picked or plucked out of thin air, as a business I would have an expectation this has been discussed before they implemented this rule/age. What a ludicrous post and to see it thanked is even more unelievable

    No !!!!!!, Sherlock!

With such a profound insight into business economics I'g guessing you have at least a PhD in economics.
They are not there to 'serve' us and provide us with a service or what we want

    Er, really?

How long do you think they would last if they had no one to serve because they were not giving people what they wanted?
they are there to make money.

I can't compete with this depth of knowledge.
it is their restaurant who am I to moan?

You are the customer. The person who, ultimately, pays the wages of the employees and the shareholder's dividends.
I can't go in and demand what I want.

No, (well, actually, you can, they just don't have to give it to you), but there's nothing to stop you complaining if you cannot get what you want and/or are hampered by rules that do not make sense to you.

You (together with others who will undoubtably be making similar complaints) may get the rules changed, you may get ignored, or you may get an explanation that results in your being less inclined to go elsewhere.

You won't achieve anything positive by doing nothing or ceasing to be a customer.
People confuse good service of places with what is the expected.

No, they see good service so they no what it is. Then, when they do not receive good service, they know that they can complain, and, if nothing is done, go elsewhere. (Obviously if they are expecting Savoy Grill service and mcdonalds they are going to be out of luck.)
If they make profit or loss or how they chose to run the business is up to them and not for you to debate on.

Who do you think you are to tell people what they may or may not debate?

Even the government don't try and do that.

I thanked it because it seemed an intelligent post that made good points.

Your response on the other hand seems more like an angry rant. :D

Of course, and what charges they apply, and how comfortable the chairs are. What is your point?

Are you serious? Do you really seriously believe that there are customers who hear that they won't serve children's meals to ten year olds and think, "Yes, that's the place for me"?
