Without going into the rights and wrongs of this case, it's completely different to the Subway one. In that one the poster wanted Subway to sell him something for a price they never advertised the sandwich for or to give him something for nothing.

In this case the poster just wanted the company to sell him something at a price they were habitually quite happy to sell it. As someone pointed out, the most pragmatic solution would have been to tell them his daughter was 9.

How about this-took my grand kids into a family diner .the desert choice was ice cream -3scoops. We asked if the kids could have one of each flavour-answer-no.

I've kindly called it a diner, that's a word that describes somewhere usually rather.. Er.. Scabby..as opposed to a restaurant .

We have been to other restaurants where the junior menu was for under 12's . Who decides when a child can eat adult meals!

  • thanks for all the replies.

As for saying she how old is she , the waitress asked how old she was when i asked for the junior meal and i answered honestly . I hadn't seen the age mentioned on the menu so may have not been so honest , however i didn't actually think there would be a problem.
Never has been a problem in any other restaurant- even my husband has ordered a pudding from a childrens menu elsewhere with no problems and he certainly isn't under 10!!

If we were not pushed for time we would have gone elsewhere. Which we will be in the future so the £1.35 Ed's made last week from us will be the last profit they will get from us.

  • I've ordered children's meals for myself in the past. I just explain I have an illness that prevents me eating full portions and I've never been refused yet. Maybe I've just been lucky.

I think when you mention medical reasons you would never have a problem anywhere!

However at the end of the day it's a chain restaurant and the rules would be set by the chain not the waitress. She's not going to risk her job over something like this. Chains can be very picky.

The most important question is was the dog any good?
