I would think that this must damage HL's reputation. They always try to position themselves as a kind of 'premier' brand in the market.
Maybe they are just like everybody else?
Yes, very disappointing. One reason I have stuck with HL, despite other brokers being cheaper, was that they did seem to offer a good level of service and their website was excellent - never had a problem with it. Until today.0 -
Chap from CMC on TV now saying there's a substantial queue of buyers waiting to buy at £4.40 + .
Shame brokers like Hargreaves Lansdown can't allow anyone access to deal because of their IT failure.0 -
What is the best way to sell if you applied direct and chose to hold share certificates?
Thanks0 -

Hi,Well there we go, 100 million shares now traded in less than an hour. Big for one stock under any circumstances!
and folks here with 272 moaning because they can't sell.
What about the poor folk who got none?Tombola591 wrote: »Or buy.... Seems like HL weren't the best choice for RM. A few people on here have managed to sell but they were with different brokers. Just surprised that HL dealt pretty well with the high demand (very busy phone lines but no website crashes) during application stage but not during trading stage.
The application process was spread over 10 or more days, the trading has only been going over an hour.0 -
I bought shares through the government's Royal Mail Shares website.
I received an email early this morning so I take it there was nothing wrong with my application.
How do I sell the shares today, preferably online?
Thanks in advance for any advice.0 -
Register with an on-line broker now (maybe not HL) then when you get the certificate send it to them.
When the shares appear in your account you can sell them on-line.
Awesome - thanks Freecall.
But would I be able to sell at the current price - or can I only sell at the price it is when I get the certificate?
I have an account with Charles Stanley Direct - should have used them to buy in the first place!0 -

Send them to them in that case.
You will get the price at the point of sale, when CSD has them and you tell them to sell.0 -

I received that email as well - which by the way was utterly useless and not very informative.
Doesn't explicitly tell you if you got allocations or not.0
