Well i opted to buy £10k as i wanted the divi from them as its is supposed to be 6-7% . If i dont get the £10k i will sell them . The divi on £750 worth (About what i expect to get) isn't worth the hassle0

£9K applications for self and spouse is looking spot on
I don't think you need to guess the amount most posters have applied for Most seem to have been quite open about the money they've spent.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Sometimes its best not to be too hasty. I was too hasty with my employee share scheme. After three years I cashed the shares in at £3.20 making a nice profit. However if I had only waited I could have sold out at £5.30.And sometimes it is best to be hasty - at a previous company I kept all employee share purchase shares in the belief that they would go up in the long term and because I didn't need the money at the time - they didn't and I lost out overall.
So, what you're saying is that anecdotal evidence isn't really worth much. Whoever would've thought it?0 -
There were quite a few naysayers on here pumping their usual spiel about "risky risky".
Sounds like Royal Mail is a good bet so the naysayers can look on while those that dipped in lap up all the cream!
Ohh by the way £5,000 worth here0 -
Financial bookmaker IG Index says that, as of Thursday morning, orders placed by its clients indicate Royal Mail shares could be worth between 405p and 425p each.
However, that is just an indication and the market may react differently next week.0 -

Are they trading on it? Is that their price, 20p seems like quite a large spread.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
^^Think that's based on grey market trading ...but it's not exactly clear.

Ministers are expected to argue that those who placed orders for more than £10,000 were professional rather than private investors, although observers pointed out that many of them - understood to number in the handful of thousands - were likely to be core Conservative voters.
"They're taking a big risk given that there is a sufficient retail allocation to give all 700,000 people who applied the basic £750," said one.
Insiders said the Government would give those who applied for the minimum £750 of shares their full entitlement, but would scale back the allocation to those who ordered between £750 and £10,000.
Final decisions about the allocation of stock will be made until later on Thursday, with a Government announcement likely later in the day or on Friday morning before conditional trading in the shares gets under way.

With such a volatile share trading environment expected on the first day of trading, it is the norm to see IG have a large spread. However, I still think I would be a buyer at that level. And more importantly, so will the institutions, I really can see them trading this up to £5 per share (well within most peoples valuatiion) to guarantee the 6% dividend (remember that will be 6% of the share price at that time).
I think any quick sellers, will have their shares snapped up no problem at all with no downward pressure on share price.0 -
I was thinking about this. They reckon too many people are buying them and there will be a big devaluation. I might wait for that to happen and then buy some shares on the cheap before they slowly build back up in value.0
