Hi,Just because they have the money doesn't mean they can afford to just buy RM shares with it.
ok, so if they don't get any, they get their money back, only lost a few days miserly interest,
if they do get an allocation, and decide to sell for a quick profit, it'll be more than they would've had on interest.
So a no lose might win scenario.0 -

Let's suppose that 10% of applicants asked for more than £10k; giving them nothing means maybe 70,000 voters are very angry.
They may be angry but how many of those 70,000 (to use you guestimate) who can afford over £10,000 in cash will be so upset that they will decide to vote Labour - a party which at some point may try to renationalise the RM.
The political calculation is that it will be better to p!ss off less than 100,000 relatively rich people than a few million smaller investors who have scraped together £750 or £1000.0 -
If they're not going to give any shares to those that applied for over £10k where does that leave the institutions that have probably asked for millions.
Not very fair to treat the little man different than the big man.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Won't somebody think of the rich man! It's a tough life, having lots of money, even the government won't bend to your every whim0

LOL Obviously all the Tory MP's have applied for more than £10K and have rung no.10 as soon as they heard the news.
Think they are changing it by the minute, clowns....0 -

Yes, I agree not many however many voters are already pretty apathetic. While previously I've floated between Con/Lib next time around I think I'd be angry enough to just not bother voting.Doshwaster wrote: »The political calculation is that it will be better to p!ss off less than 100,000 relatively rich people than a few million smaller investors who have scraped together £750 or £1000.
That was my point though, if everyone gets something then no-one is p!ssed off.Every generation blames the one before...

I reckon that's unlikely. But agree with your point that it's politically easier to upset the wealthier investors0 -
What a great way to get the public onside - ensure that everyone who applied for a little amount gets something but only Dave's mates in the city get anything larger than £10k. Why not give all the allocation to the public and then let the city buy it as the public sells to get their small windfalls?
I am no mate of Dave (or any other MP for that matter) but the only reason that I didn't apply for more than £10k is that I suspected that there was a chance that I would end up with none. So I only applied for £5k worth (as did my wife also). In the last few months I have invested over £90k in a ftse tracker, so it isn't just RM shares that I am interested in, although obviously I am drawn by the low price, otherwise I wouldn't bother with individual shares.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
I think i can pick out who has applied for more than £10K on this thread !
£9K applications for self and spouse is looking spot on0 -
Does this mean the price is likely to rise more or will it have no impact? Also, does anyone know when we'll find out. I heard tomorrow but have now read the 15th?0
