There is a logic in saying that anyone who wanted a 5 figure amount won't actually be interested in a piddling £750 worth.
I disagree, I think most people would prefer something rather than nothing especially when there's been an expectation there.
I don't get the logic of an arbitrary figure meaning you get nothing, all that will ever do is make some people feel aggrieved - not what you should be aiming for as a politician!Every generation blames the one before...

There is a logic to it, but (as seems often the case with government decisions) the different outcomes for the £10,000 applicant who will receive at least £750's worth and the £10,001 applicant who will receive nothing does seem somewhat abrupt.
Governments seems to like cliffs.
EDIT: beaten to it by both latecomer and MobileSaver!0 -
I think a lot of people will have elected to buy more shares than they really thought that they would get, expecting to be scaled back. So for instance electing to buy £20k while expecting to receive only £5k.0

Are Government MPs allowed to apply for shares or are they barred as they are technically insiders? If they are permitted, I would be interested to know how many of them applied for £9,000 of shares?0

£10,000 + applicants will get zero. Greed comes before a fall?0

I elected to buy more than I expected to get but realising that I could get the full amount that I asked for. Obviously you needed to have the funds in place to do so which would have prevented some people from being able to do the same.I think a lot of people will have elected to buy more shares than they really thought that they would get, expecting to be scaled back. The latest on the BBC business blog is that the £10k decision hasn't yet been takenROYAL MAIL 0930: Robert Peston Business editor
blogs: having previously been told that the government had decided not to allocate any shares to investors who had applied for more than £10,000, I have now been informed that the decision will in fact be taken in the coming hours.0
