I have no idea what you're on about. Really.

It was mostly your use of the word 'shafting' I think. :)

But don't worry about it. Not that you were. ;)
  • Ive not been able to read all 68 pages of Royal Mail shares thread. My mother has bought £10k of royal mail shares but has been told that the public can now only purchase £750 worth of shares. Her account was debited the full £10K and has been told that she will be refunded the difference but it could take months. Is this correct and any advice would be great. thank you.

Anyone briefly explain what the score is with the certificate? Whats the process for selling?

Once you get a certificate, you can normally walk into a bank branch and sell them. That's the most expensive if quickest method.

Or you can post it to a broker, let them transfer it to an online account for you (may take a week) and then sell it online - this is the cheapest way.

You may also find some brokers offering a midway house. Selling your shares by telephone but only if you then immediately send your certificate to them.

    Regards

    Ah!

Well, I think the public were shafted tbh. Over 10k you get binned, under £10k you get a paltry £750 worth.

In my head a see it as a top-hatted 'gent' tipping a ha'penny to a street urchin...

Not months - a week or two.

If she applied online and paid via debit card, the funds should be refunded to the bank account directly.

If she applied via post, a cheque should be with her around the 21 October.

Well, 15.00 has now been and gone so my shares should now have been sold.

Is there anyone who had their shares sold in the 11.00 window this morning who can confirm if i'll get any sort of E-mail confirmation of what price my shares were actually sold at?

I've got both of the emails, the wife has only got one. Strangely the one I got second (giving the allocation ) she's got first.. All makes sense to somebody somewhere....

I wouldn't worry - these are headed up over £5, and maybe a lot more long term. Oh Vince, what have you done....

My own view on the £10k threshold (which I've already posted here--it's probably on page 17 or something!) was that all private investors should've received £750's worth with no £10k cut-off. And if that came to a slightly bigger proportion for private investors than they had originally intended, then perhaps the corporate investors should've take a teensy haircut.
