I was hoping to have them sold before the US default and the end of Western civilisation on Thursday. :sad:0

No I just used the 'Share certificate and Corporate Sponsored Nominee (CSN) dealing' all seemed to go through ok, they had the right price etc.
Slightly concerned now that it hasn't gone through... no one else seems to have managed it.
Hmm yeh I cant see how you did this? what link was it?0 -

Did you get any confirmation of the sale?
I tried to register for a "Shareview Portfolio" but need an activation code which will be coming by mail apparently.
I'll try your method now.
edit: Shareview website is very slow.0 -

Holding on to them seems a good bet as nice dividend due and they're a good takeover target !0

Sorry Chopper, if you setup an online account and trade via that online rather than the automated telephone, can you transfer funds electronically rather than hassle of cheques?
One one imagine but it isn't clear as it will take several days to have full access. The fees are actually more for dealing online (17.50) rather than over the phone (7.50).0 -

US debt ceiling has been raised for another 6 months, its just stuck in the political wranglings as who gets what between the parties for agreeing the deal ATM.0 -
From the email
The_email wrote:a simple automated system using your telephone - no need to register or open an account
charges: 0.75% of the transaction value, minimum £7.50
available 24 hours a day - place your sale instruction at any time
instructions will be added together with those of other customers and sold at intervals:- received on a business day by 9.00 a.m. - sale by 11.00 a.m
- received on a business day by 1.00 p.m. - sale by 3.00 p.m
- received after 1.00 p.m., sale by 11.00 a.m. on the next business day
a cheque will be sent to you two business days after the sale together with details of the transaction
The 11:00am spike will be all the people that sold shares via the phone line this morning. Expect another dip at 3:00pm.
If you don't need an account to sell by phone, is this the way to go if you want rid today? Is it too late to do it by phone now that I've opened an online account?
So complicated!
