How is everyone doing, I cant keep up with you all.....
Anyway today was a few spends but nothing too outrageous, few presents, food and a carwash.
Am I awful for buying other peoples presents with vouchers that I have been given as a present. I have had them since march but havent seen anything I want for myself, although since following NSK's train of thought I look at things and think is it worh the price and do I really need or want it. Half the time I put stuff back on the shelf and if I end up buying anything, I often have second thoughts when I get home and end up returning it anyway.
However since last november Ive paid off £3200 worth of credit card debt and cleared my overdraft as well as overpaying on my mortgage so I am eternally grateful to NSK for changing my train of thought :D
Ive also had 128 1st class stamps, £50 shopping vouchers lots of freebies and won some prizes :T. And do you know what, its been fun too .

A friend will be staying with us on Friday night. So i made a few dinner suggestions but OH said I'll give you a break from cooking (well meant, thank you) and cook sth fancier (slightly hurt my pride there as i really make an effort). Please do, but then he can get any additional ingredients needed. So tomorrow and Friday should be SFDs and on Sat I might check out the new Aldi, as i never been in one apart from years ago in Germany when they still had a bad reputation.

Yay, to PPI cheques, changed shopping habits and earned vouchers.

We used to live across from two corner shops. Not a single day would go by without me popping in for sth. Now we dont have one within a mile and just dont go anymore.

  • NSK The word fondle never sounds good in any context.

I haven't checked in, in a while as I haven't spent any money, just racked up spend free days, I am now up to 16. I will be shopping tomorrow and have defrosted my fridge so I can buy chilled and frozen food once again.

I have decided that I am still going to use the old calculation (old rate of pay) for my wages and the difference due to the pay rise I am going to save. I also did 4 hours of unexpected overtime on Friday which I am also going to put to my savings as well. I think any training or meetings I attend I will put straight to my savings and just manage on my basic wage.

  • Good Morning All......

Yes super quiet on here. I am thinking those that aren't hitting SFD's are hiding but I don't want them too - COME BACK TO ME!!! SFD's are there to make us think - ruining a few doesn't make you a failure!!! So anyone lurking and not wanting to post need to make their mark and say hello!

To the rest of you - WOW! There is some seriously mental and physical changes. Walking past conveniance stores ( like I did last night ), using vouchers for gifts that you got as gifts ( I would do the same ), planning and scheming for November - incidentally Fmess they are SFD's if you have the money put aside for them already or at least budgetted for from November's pot. I really want you to join us for November so I am super happy you have mentioned your plans here.. :T

Cottage_Retreatist - you are right. You can never not do anything (does that make sense) when you are clutching such a hefty checque. I think I would have cried a little! I am still super happy for you and your fondling..........:rotfl:okay enough of that word now! :p

Thrifty don't be despondant. A boy suggesting something fancy is like saying he will buy you a pizza instead of you making one. Fancy doesn't equal tasty either. He will learn!!! Glad he is forking out though and it does give you a little break I guess.

Strandedinaber - so chuffed for you. I found that website that is now advertised on TV about wastage ages ago and how much food goes in the bin every week per household. It's completly shocking! I am so glad you have maneoverd your spending and it sits more comfortably with you now - and you are saving money on alcopops..:rotfl:

Kaybeebop - I shall now be referring to Lidls as Diddle Lidl - thank you for making me smirk. I think I have referenced Tesco as Tescimo's to someone at work thanks to Stewby and got some inquisitve looks. But I think you need some garlic on a spoon drizzled in honey - that will kick the cold out of you. Mumsy used to give us that as kids... sorry you are feeling pants though. Do you think your neighbours are papering over the cracks (figuritively and physically) by always getting something new.. they ain't happy and never will be by the sounds of things...

What used to annoy me since we are talking envy etc... (although this is more anger than anything ) . Getting a job with my current company a few years later I was surrounded by 30-35 year old men and women ( I was then 24) still living at home, paying minimal rent, saving money for a house - then whinging that they had no money left to actually save at the end of the month cause they spent it on going out over the weekend. I wanted to scream at them to try and pay £500 rent not including bills, and food, and a phone, and travel THEN having money to live never mind save on what was a meagre wage. I could puched a few of them. However 6 years later I know one is still with her parents - a bit sad when you are in your late thirties and have no good reason to be there - and still not have enough saved..... anyway... moving on...:)

Superdopsa I am impressed with your voucher usage - how long did it take to acrue them.. I have been ignoring all online point scoring websites like the plagued cause they annoyed me - worth getting back on VP since they email me everyday..?

RosieCheeksBlossom - you have made massive headway with your debt. Super proud of you! I still do the "put back on shelf" thing... I think it's the psychology behind wanting it so it goes in your basket because you can have it, but then realising that even though you can have it ( and you have satisfied that urge just by putting it in your basket ) you can now justify leaving it because you don't need it... We are a weird bunch aren't we. But if it works then so be it..:T

LSD I am trying to find a picture of the most elaborate chocolate cake ever to give you inspiration.... to make it.... FOR ME!!! ... But yes I liek to bake. What I don't like is the miniscule kitchen LLL has.. and the lack of baking tins etc. Means I have to buy them. And increase my "stuff" which i don't really want to do... So I make do and mend .... make something and take a picture....

Right I am off to have a smoothie.... sorry this is such a long post but you'd think you should be used to it by now from me...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Onwards!!!

NSK thing is he is actually a really good cook and usually does the fancy entertainung cooking whereas I'm more like our mums, cook everday meat and two veg but I have learnt loads and are much more creative now too which can be tiring if you have to cook everyday after work. But i appreciate his help.

Morning everyone! I have had a couple of spend days :o Work has been an absolute nightmare and I needed a double decker or two to get me through :o:o So good job they are 4 for a pound at t3sco!
I have 6 days off from tomorrow and it cannot come quick enough!
I have been lurking more than posting as I've been knackered come the evening times these last couple of weeks!

I'm loving the advice regarding envying others! I love holidays and that is the only time I may be envious, when someone is going on one as i've just come back :D I was going to put a bit away for a cheapy trip next year(no more than a couple hundred). Just wondering, for those that have nailed the debt free journey, did you cut these out completely? I am starting to think maybe I should cut it out until i'm completely debt free-no excuses :o:D

Keep up the good work everyone! I'm proud to say i have actually had more SFD's than spend days :T

  • Morning Folks,

Today is definitely going to be a spend day, butttttt...having just updated my signature I've noticed that I have actually achieved my 20 SFD's. Like a lot of people have said, ordinarily I would have popped into tecsimos at least three times a week on the way home from work and I've been really really good and only been to any supermarket twice so far this month.

Back to today, I need to get a few bits to get me through to next week, and where I park for my appointment today is in a supermarket car park. Again, I would normally go in there and spend £20 - £30 on stuff that I don't really need. Today I am going to have a look at the toy sale to see if there is anything for a little one I know and then get some tinned stuff and some milk for the freezer. i'm not going to go mad, am predicting around £30, not including any toys, they come out of my Christmas fund.

I think I over estimated my food budget, based on what I used to spend, next month's will be adjusted slightly, but I will need some more household stuff next month.

Haven't bought any toiletries this month, and don't intend to, but next month or December I will need to buy some more hair product. I buy it in triplicate online and it lasts me a good six months or so, and the three is the same price as one from a shop, so I think it's a good deal.

I think I might office bin dumpster dive again later on :o when I get a chance, saw some grapes (still fine and this time in the plastic box) in it. Maybe some find it gross but I love grapes and can't see them wasted esp. as they are not cheap. And there is only paper in it otherwise.
